Hey, muns and muses! As of today, the Rocket HQ Tales October World of Darkness even is officially over! While you are more than welcome to continue or create new threads for the monster AU, we will no longer be posting writing challenges for it. If you made posts for any of the writing challenges during the event period, and you wish to claim any of the prizes you have not yet picked up, please message the hub with which prompts you have completed by November 8th.

Time Frame: 10/25 ~ 11/01

Format: [ Threads | Drabbles | Both ]

Prompt: Tensions are constantly strained between the Anarchs and the Camarilla, and unfortunately, both sides will occasionally snap with small skirmishes taking place in some form or another. Write a thread or drabble involving your muse caught between the two!

Sea monsters. Who did the Camarilla think they were kidding? Like there would be any sea monsters this close to land. Archer sighed heavily to himself as he strode down the beach, notepad and pen in hand with his tail whipping along clumsily behind him. There had been reports lately about some sort of huge creature being sighted by humans at the beach, which Archer was certain was complete and utter bullshit, and he would have made his feelings on the matter very clear to his masters had he not been itching to get out of Venture Tower and stretch his wings.

The evening stroll was lovely, of course; he did miss taking the walk in the daylight, but with his condition.... Well, there was nothing to be done, and he would take what he could get. So he strolled on, enjoying the feeling of the ocean’s spray on his face and the cool ocean’s breeze, whistling slightly to himself as he went along. That was when he saw it—the person collapsed in the sand, just down the stretch. Cursing to himself, because he knew his conscience would not allow him to leave them, and he also knew the scolding he would receive should a regular human see him, he dashed forward, dropping to his knees at their side.

Hey, spoops and specters! It’s time for your second writing challenge! As a general reminder, the first AU Prompt (which you can find here) is still open and will remain available until the end of the event; if you complete or have completed a post detailing how your muse(s) have become their monster, message the Hub to be awarded your pokemon prize!

Now, onto the second prompt!

Time Frame: 10/11 ~ 10/18

Format: [ Threads | Drabbles | Both ]

Prompt: Monsters are considered “monsters” because they are often antagonistic. Write a thread or drabble in which your muse struggles with the darker aspect of their new form or powers! Are they willing to accept their new path or are they fighting against it?

What happens when a female human and a red haired male demon mate? Boom! They create what is called a succubus, a female demon that seduces men in order to drain their life force.

They never let him leave during the day. Shugo didn’t quite understand it, and nobody would give him a straight answer. Sometimes they didn’t even let him leave at night; they would sit him down in a chair and they would talk to him and ask him things, but the boy could hardly ever pay attention; there were too many whispers in the air, too many secrets to be heard. Sometimes they would float in front of him as text and he would watch with wide eyes, but sometimes he only knew the whispers were there by the hair rising on the back of his neck.

They kept him in a tower, during the day, in a room with other boys. Shugo didn’t like them much. They kept talking about how lucky he was he was just a Malk, and not a sewer rat, but still, they refused to go near him, calling him the cursed of the damned, calling him a Malk. He didn’t know what Malk meant but he didn’t like the way they said it, and he hated staying in the room with them.

Shugo liked rats, though.

Late at night when the others had gone on to be mentored by their Sires, Shugo had walked straight out of the Camarilla Tower, and for some reason it was as if the sentry at the doors couldn’t even see him. It was cloudy and drizzly that night and the young vampire hopped into the gutter and splashed through the puddles building up, laughing all the way. It was only when the whispers grew louder that Shugo stopped and looked around, his eyes falling upon a closed manhole. Without a second of hesitation, Shugo threw himself flat on his stomach and pressed his ear tightly to the cool, grimy metal, ignoring the fact that he nearly tripped someone to do so.

Surprise! You all are getting an extra prompt, and early, to boot! As always, participation is optional!

Time Frame: While the other prompts will all have a time limit of one week to earn the pokemon prize, this prompt will remain available through the entirety of the event.

Prompt: Your muse became a monster! Write about how they became the kind of monster they did in a drabble or a thread! Feel free to stick as close to or veer as far from your characters’ canons as you like! There are no rules as to what goes for this event!

The World of Darkness October Event is starting this Thursday!

This event is loosely inspired by the World of Darkness tabletop rpgs from White Wold Productions and Mind’s Eye Theater, but fret not! No knowledge of or experience with the World of Darkness is required to participate, at all!

The Basics: For this event, you muse(s) have, somehow, some way, become a living (or unliving, if you prefer), breathing, horror monster! Ahhhh! What kind of monster they have become, when they became it, and how are all up to you! The best part is, you can draw your inspiration from anywhere you want—it can be from any movie, story, videogame, myth, legend, what have you, and regardless of the event’s name, you are not restricted to any one source material! You are free to engage in any regular form of activity, from threads to drabbles and anything in between. Each Sunday, we will post a short writing prompt on the Hub concerning the event—if you want to participate and write a drabble/solo or complete a thread with another member based on the prompt within the week, you can earn some spoopy pokemon for your muses! As always, event participation is entirely optional.

The Setting: For some reason, monsters tend to flock to cities, probably because there’s a lot of people there to scare and also because it’s easier to blend in with the nightlife. Goldenrod, Johto, is no exception! Whether they’ve just moved in or have been squatting there for a while, Goldenrod City will be the center stage for this event! But as nice as cities are, they also have a pointy side to them: with that many people on the streets, it can be difficult to keep the truth of the supernatural a secret, and it only takes one city council to find out before the mob comes at us with torches and pitchforks! To try an maintain peace and order, two groups have arisen: the Camarilla, and the Anarchs. The Camarilla is order, bureaucratic, and will hold you to their rules whether you’re one of them or not. The Anarchs are chaos, soldiers, and won’t care what you do as long as you don’t get the rest of them found—and boy, are tensions strained between these groups! Will you pick a side or try to foot it alone?

The Rules: Standard group rules apply—if you’re a little foggy, feel free to jolt your memory on the Hub. In addition, we urge all event participants to be mindful about their monsters’ supernatural abilities, and to discuss using them on you RP’ing partner’s muse with them to make sure what is and isn’t okay. Otherwise, get creative, and have fun!
