So uh, I may or may not have already posted this once before on complete accident, deleted it because barely anything was written, and therefore lost the ask, so I’ll just tag you @crunchy-criss-1
Sorry this took so long, I've been working on other drafts at the same time (more sketchbook dumps) and just straight up didn’t feel like working on this mountain of text.
Anyway. Onto the actual post:
There are quite a few of them by now. I’ll do my best to explain them all. All the ages listed are what they’re turning in 2046, but their stories don’t necessarily take place that year.
First a quick summary:
Aone Asuka (Aofuta), she/her, 23 y/o
Shirabu Hiichi (Semishira), she/her, 22 y/o
Aone x Hiichi, +plus some polycule things
Shirabu Mani (Semishira), they/them, 16 y/o
Shirabu Ryouzou (Semishira), she/her, 11 y/o
Shirabu-Semi Eyon (Semishira), he/him, 8 y/o
Goshiki Kiyoshi (Kogagoshi), she/he, 14 y/o
Kiyoshi has an unrequited crush on Mani. Sasaki Etsuko has a crush on Kiyoshi.
Hinata-Kageyama Saori (Kagehina), any (most people use she/her), 17 y/o
Tendou Noémie (Ushiten), she/her, 16 y/o
Dating Killian Loki. She was Tase Harumei's queer awakening.
Now below I’ve given lengthy ramblings on all of them!
I looove her! She’s so cute! I really like Futakuchi, he’s such a hater, and I find his friendship with Aone really sweet, so of course the natural conclusion was to give them a daughter! She’s super shy, so they will both stand behind her looking all menacing to scare off all the jerks (Asuka is taller than them...). Futakuchi used to throw shade too but he had to stop after a parent almost reported him back in middle school 😔😔 (you cannot tell me this man doesn’t itch to start a fight with little kids).
She went to Date Tech like her dads. She’s a trans girl, so while she did always play on the boys’ team during school and most of her teammates were supportive of her transition, the desire to play as a girl on a girls’ team was too painful, so she quit after high school. She did join a casual team as a hobby once she got into university. I’m not sure what she’s studying yet though.
Asuka is the name she chose herself, and I decided to not give it any kanji. It has no meaning, it’s just a blank slate. A new identity.
I can’t decide whether I want her to have white hair or brown hair, but it’s definitely very long! She almost always wears it in a thick braid. Like a 198.9 cm Rapunzel :)
Back to uni though! So she meets a girl... A certain Shirabu Hiichi.
At the time of writing this, I made one post about Hiichi before. The one about fucking half the school. She’s certainly... Something.
From all her siblings, Hiichi gets along best with their parents, in part because she is the oldest and in part because she’s really similar to both of them. Wild and attention-seeking like Semi, ambitious and determined like Shirabu. She went to Shiratorizawa for high school, and played as starting setter for at least two years. She’s not good, she’s great. If Washijou was still coaching, she would have made his life absolute hell on earth (she made the current coach’s life hell instead).
I don’t know what the style is called but this is basically how she looked during her high school days:
Once she got into uni she went back to her natural brown hair and adopted a more light academia-esque look. She’s very adaptive, just like her father Shirabu.
Though she got club offers for after high school, she wants to become an architect and is going to the same uni as Asuka. They met when Hiichi joined that same hobby team. Basically what happened was that Hiichi, this confident, charismatic, flirty, gay-awakening inducing lesbian, saw Asuka and became. Stupid. Never before had she experienced a crush like this, never before has she felt this powerless over her actions. Why does she keep embarrassing herself in front of this cute girl!
I really love Hiichi and Asuka’s dynamic, they’re so funny. It’s shy-trans-girl meets dumb-flirty-lesbian. And the dumb lesbian is only dumb around specifically her. Aside from that, I actually want to use these two to explore a polyamory dynamic I haven’t before. So far I've only got ones with three people involved. I have ideas for who else to add to this relationship, mainly Hiichi’s old high school teammate that was seen in the post I linked above (spoiler, they’re non-binary and confused) and I’ve thought about giving Kawanishi a child too just for this (they would be non-binary too).
Actually, Hiichi has a really funny history with non-binary people? Her first younger sibling is non-binary (more on that later), she was the first one her teammate came out to back in high school and Hiichi gave him a cool yet horribly ugly haircut, and if I do create that Kawanishi child Hiichi only finds out they’re trans when Asuka confesses to having a(nother) crush and points at that person with a trans flag pin on their bag. Hiichi was speechless because “like what did I do to lose your trust bestie you know my sibling is literally trans?? And like you know how I treat them so like?????”
Anyway the relationship pipeline of this polyship would probably be Hiichi→Asuka→Kawanishi child→old teammate. Asuka might be with the old teammate too, who knows, I’m still figuring this out. And there’s always room for more too, so.
While this whole relationship thing is happening though, Hiichi’s university team keeps trying to recruit her. And when it does eventually work, she’s conflicted over whether she wants to go pro after all, or go put her degree to some use. I wonder what she will do...?
Shirabu Mani (白布 真二)
they/them, 16 years old, 171 cm
Sport: volleyball (outside hitter, ace; former setter)
Mani-rin, Mani-rin, oh my favourite child Mani-rin! I love them so dearly, that’s why I hurt them.
Unlike their older sister, Mani does not get on well with their parents, especially right now. They’re the problem child, the one who slams doors and argues until it’s turned into yelling. Their relationship with Shirabu is especially tense, since he’s the more strict parent and always makes them feel like he’s either not seeing them or is disappointed when he does see them. Their fights escalated a lot more after Mani decided to not go to Shiratorizawa, not even caring if they got an offer or not, and took Fukorodani Academy’s offer instead.
Yeahh they’ve got middle child syndrome. It’s baaad. Like really bad. They’re so scared of being “lost in the crowd,” they want to be special, to stand out somehow! To make their father proud... To make him see them for them and not a lesser version of their fucking sister. But no one seems to truly see them.
Because Hiichi gets so much praise, Mani hates her with a burning passion. I didn’t mention it above, but Hiichi is pretty damn obsessed with authority and respect, and is so goddamn mad that Mani calls her by her name and not “oneechan.” It really started when Mani began hating her, but now they will call her “aneki” too which she hates even more. They fight all the time, over so many different things. Mani is probably the only person in the world that could get Hiichi this angry.
Something else Mani really hates is gendered language. While -kun and -chan aren’t technically gendered, they have that association and Mani has insisted since they were a wee child that they want to be called “Mani-rin.” They do actually call themself that even now, if the opportunity arises.
Aside from their family issues, school is actually pretty good! They’re best friends with Sasaki Tsuneo, my Bachisagi son, and roped him into becoming the volleyball team’s manager. I love me a platonic ride-or-die trope and these two have that to the max. No one is safe from their shenanigans. If Bokuto and Akaashi gave Fukorodani a good name, these two have vandalised and ruined it. As a consequence of being Tsuneo’s bestie though, Mani has the unfortunate honour of witnessing his mess of a throuple get together. Mani is too aroace for this. They’re literally throwing up in the corner. Someone save them.
Their left eye is slowly becoming blind, though at this point in time it's not causing them any problems with volleyball.
I have the words “affectionately violent, regularly violent” written down as part of their personality. When someone is repeatedly an asshole, especially transphobic, the “regularly violent” aspect of their personality shines through and they will pick a fight. Usually when it is a one-off thing though, they’ll just practice serves as stress relief. Quite a few volleyballs are stuck in the gym ceiling.
They never end up going pro, even if they certainly could and have been scouted. They hate the genderedness of sports, so no matter how much they love volleyball, that love just isn’t enough.
Oh you want to be a pinch server sooo bad. She literally saw some old footage of Semi pinch serving and decided that’s gonna be her.
Aside from volleyball, her other love in life are horses! She’s a horse girl through and through. She wants to go to Shiratorizawa just to see the horses (and play volleyball too, I guess).
She’s really mad that her parents won’t let her dye her hair until high school. She’s literally a baby goth in the making! Born to be a goth girly, forced to be a pre-teen...
She’s got Mani’s bad attitude. Curses at and flips people off all the time. She’s also really confident, super competitive, and loooves to brag. The worst part is that her confidence isn’t even baseless (Ushijima is frustrated by her).
After her younger brother was born, she also started to be affected by middle child syndrome. While Mani is very closed off, they do eventually end up bonding over this shared pain.
She’s also a lot like Hiichi, as in they are both legends in the making, it just depends on if they want to take that path in life or not. I’m not sure yet, but I do think Ryouzou will choose volleyball and go pro.
I ain’t got a lot on him. He hates sports. Any form of it. He’s literally that one art kid. Also likes books.
He gets really nervous with strangers, but in true Shirabu siblings tradition is a brat at home.
Just to make Mani even more of a black sheep, he also ends up going to Shiratorizawa. I did this purely for my own amusement :)
All the Shirabu-Semi children have numbers in their names! Going from one to four, I had a lot of fun figuring them out. If anyone is interested I can talk more about all the children’s names and their meanings.
They also all went to high school on scholarships. Ryouzou and Eyon actually started in middle school!
I do not believe that Shirabu and Semi would be good parents. They’re not horrible, but certainly not model either. It’s a lot to do with their jobs and the stress that comes from them, but they often end up playing favourites too. Mani and Ryouzou are often ignored and forgotten in favour of their pride and joy, Hiichi, or the baby of the family, Eyon. Of course Hiichi suffers from the immense pressure and expectations too, and Eyon notices that he’s often the one getting attention even when Ryouzou clearly needs something. There’s a lot of unresolved conflict in this family.
Goshiki Kiyoshi (五色 潔)
he/she, 14 years old, 175.3 cm
Sport: wheelchair basketball
Family: Goshiki Tsutomu (father), Koganegawa Kanji (father)
Sunshine incarnate, inherited energy levels that would leave Hinata jealous (his own child is more like Kageyama 😔).
Her style is absolutely atrocious, but over the years it starts developing into something actually cool? And like other kids his age are super jealous because why does this person suddenly get to look good! By the time he's an adult, he's got a cool black-and-white formal-esque style going on. Currently she either wears her hair in three loose ponytails or a half-up half-down style.
The longer I think about him, the more I notice just how similar he is to Itoshi Chi. They're both the friendly type, but Kiyoshi is younger and less mature, and definitely more mischievous. Their style is really similar too actually.
I haven't settled on what condition she has yet, but she switches between uses different mobility aids depending on how her body's feeling. He can definitely walk, just not always. Honestly I just really wanted a character with a more visible disability. The sports aspect is probably one of the worst to him personally, since her parents and family friends all play volleyball, but she can't really.
Now, my favourite part about Kiyoshi is that he has the biggest fattest most unrequited puppy crush on Mani, her cool older friend whom she admires to hell and back. This is made even funnier by the fact that Tsuneo's younger sister Etsuko, whom she befriended, also has a crush on Kiyoshi! I created this whole dynamic because I needed some unrequired love in my life.
Hinata-Kageyama Saori (日向・影山 沙織)
any (most people use she/her), 17 years old, 165.7 cm
Sport: football (forward), volleyball (outside hitter)
Her parents named her after Kimura Saori, one of the best female volleyball players Japan produced, which is highly ironic considering Saori chose football over volleyball. She's known volleyball since day one, but began playing football with the neighbourhood kids when she got into primary school. For years she juggled both, but eventually she made the hard decision to focus solely on football. Her parents are still disappointed (though it has lessened somewhat over the years) and this has taken a huge toll on her. When they got an invitation to the new Blue Lock Project, they took it as their chance to prove to their parents that they can be just as successful as them, even if it's in a different sport.
She gets along really well with Oikawa! Just like her dads she basically doesn't wear anything besides clothes fit for sports, so Oikawa loves dressing him up and taking her on a day-trip around the city whenever he visits. She looks good every time, and has been "mistaken" as a boy, girl, and non-binary many times.
Said job is becoming a pro football player.
The Hinata-Kageyama family live in São Paulo, Brazil. Iwaoi visit from Argentina every now and then.
Saori can never get a tan, she always ends up red as a tomato.
She always looks really calm and collected, but her head is a constant torrent of "WHAT THE FUCK WHAT THE FUCK WHAT THE FUCK" because she's always overthinking something and freaking out.
They grew up bilingual. Her Japanese is average in speech, but bad in reading and writing. She's fluent in speaking Portuguese, but only decent in writing and reading. She really got Kagehina's worst parts!
She's got Ushijima's serious face, is always really quiet, but she's such a jokester!
She never seems like she's taking anything serious, even though she's actually really stressed.
Along with Saori and the Itoshi cousins, she's one of the players brought to the Blue Lock Project from abroad. She lives in Paris, France.
Unlike Saori's, her parents don't mind that she didn't pick up volleyball and are fully supportive of whatever career she chooses.
Would you believe me if I told you that her best friend in Blue Lock is a manipulative, controlling, secretive freak of a girl? Yeah she somehow became besties with Tase Harumei, a completely original Blue Lock character of mine. They both love jokes and messing around. Noemie was also Harumei's queer awakening, but she's straight so no luck.
Speaking of Noemie being straight, she actually has a boyfriend too! One day she met this gorgeous boy called Killian Loki... Yes that's right, it's Hugoloki's son. The guy is actually alright compared to his parents, seems shifty but is actually scarily genuine.
Aaand that's it! I don't have any more Haikyuu kids at the moment. Again, really sorry this took so long. If anyone is interest in knowing more about my darling offspring (can't believe I just called them that) please ask! As you can tell, I love talking about them
