ヒメゲンゴロウより少しサイズが大きいが、判別する際は前胸背の黒斑を確認する方が確実。

Also known as supertramp beetles, since they're found in Europe, East Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

Aquatic beetles that live in small waterbodies with little vegetation, feeding on mosquito larvae, and each other. Towards the end of the larval stage, they leave the water to dig a cell in mud, propping themselves away from the walls of the cell with long hairs. less than two weeks after the digging of the pupation cell, the adults emerge and can easily fly to other ponds, pools, tire ruts, or wet concrete, as here.
