Hairo-kun is the most passionate and competitive person I know, while Nendou-kun is the champion of dumb luck. It's not often that I get to hear rumors and gossip, but I know a couple whispers about those two came from Kaidou-kun and Kuboyasu-kun. I don't actually know where Hairo-kun falls on the sexuality spectrum, even if I have my fair share of speculation. He doesn't react to Teruhashi-kun's beauty very often, which is very rare for boys in our grade. Thinking about it now, he does seem to stare at Nendou-kun more than he ever looks at Teruhashi-kun. Teruhashi-kun also doesn't seem to be bothered by his lack of attention for her, is it possible his difference in interest is already well known at the school? I'll have to ask Kusuo-kun about this, he's been at PK longer than I have, and would certainly have more insider knowledge. People hardly talk to me at school, likely intimidated by how much I talk. I also don't have much of Hairo-kun's interest, considering how I'm not very athletic. I still haven't answered the question at hand, have I? I suppose it could be a possibility, but I'd like to observe them more before I reach an exact consensus. I'll admit that I didn't have much interest in their interactions before this, but you've brought a bit of curiosity into my mind!

the only exclusions i have here are tousuke or touma x literally any of the parents. this touma blog is around 16 or 17 so i'm iffy on the idea of him starting a relationship with a 19 year old.
While I did have a near-death experience, it didn't warrant any split-second decision making. I was very heavily bullied when I was a child, and during one of those bullying incidents, I faced a rather heavy blow to my head. Due to the blunt force trauma, I don't recall the exact order of events. I believe my head hit the corner of one of the classroom's desks, but the evidence of the scene was cleaned up before I woke again. There's really no need to worry about this, though! My tormentors got their karma, I healed up rather fast! I suppose a concussion isn't that extreme, but the fact that I passed out on impact was a rathed bad sign. For all I know, my childhood self could have exaggerated what happened due to the fear I felt in the moment. I just know that children can be a lot crueler than one might expect. I'd hardly consider my experiences with bullying to be the standard, but I also know how hurtful verbal bullying can be. I'm very fortunate to have kinder peers at PK Academy, I feel a lot more open to being myself and talking to my classmates than I have in a long time!

Do you have any stuffed animals or plushies? Personally I have a doll that I've had since I was really little (even after all these years she somehow doesn't have a name lol).
I have quite a few stuffed animals! My favorites are a pair of teddy bears I've had since I was young, I still need to hold them in order to sleep properly! I've gone out of my way to keep them in good condition, so they don't look as old as they really are. Neither of them have particularly clever names, but renaming them after all these years would be impolite! They've held the same names since I was seven years old, I couldn't possibly handle the change! One has lighter fur, and I named him BearBear. The second has darker fur, and she's named Beary! My mother found those simple names very endearing when I excitedly told them to her as a kid, it's a very positive memory that I still hold onto. I have other stuffed toys as well, but they're kept safely on a shelf so I don't knock them off of the bed while I sleep. I could give a runthrough of all of them, but some aren't in the greatest condition anymore! I find getting rid of my childhood items to be quite a struggle, as I hold onto all the memories I have with them. Unfortunately, I did have to leave some of my toys behind when the divorce forced my mother and I to move, but I still have the most important ones to my childhood self.
Just recently, I finally got the chance to watch the Project Hail Mary movie with a friend, and I have quite a few thoughts about it, some positive and some negative. I suppose I should preface that I did read the book in its entirety in anticipation, so I'm exploring the movie as an adaptation rather than just a standalone film. For those who haven't watched the movie or read the book, I'd personally recommend reading the book before coming back to this.
[Also, this is a character askblog I'm posting from. The points I'm making are my own beliefs, however. I'm just formatting it in a way the character would. Because the movie is still fairly new, I'm putting the rest under the cut.]
While I immediately recognize that the movie has a limited runtime and could not touch on everything, there were some cut details that I believe should have stayed in. The most jarring was the change in the scene of Rocky saving Grace. They cut out the other half of that interaction, which I believe weakens the appearance of their bond. In the book, Grace reciprocated the act of saving Rocky, as Rocky didn't manage to make it back i to his tunnels on his own. Grace had to open the tunnel and injure himself in order to save Rocky, and I believe that detail was far too important to be left out. It set up Grace's willingness to help Rocky, making the scene of them splitting up to go home far more upsetting, as well as the payoff of Grace going back for Rocky more satisfying. By technicality, the change didn't truly impact the story, but I feel it weakened the bond between Rocky and Grace.
Another cut detail I would have preferred seeing was how Grace was drugged before being put on the Hail Mary. They didn't delve into how Stratt had to inject him with a powerful drug that would cause temporary amnesia in order to ensure he'd actually complete the mission. With this, they also shortened the opening segment where he couldn't even remember his own name. He wasn't allowed into most of the ship before giving his name in the book, introducing his memory problems early on and establishing the importance of his flashbacks. His anger towards Stratt is more justified in the book, as she quite literally drugged him and sent him to space to die. I feel the drugging was a very important part of the resolution to his own character arc, realizing she'd read him perfectly. She knew he'd get too invested in the mission to sabotage things when he remembered.
Those were the two major gripes I had, but there were also some small details that irked me. The first that comes to mind is Rocky reacting to the videos in the fully-paneled room. Rocky only hears, he does not see. No amount of cracks in xenonite can make the waveforms of light perceptible to him. Therefore, he shouldn't have much of a reaction to any nature shown in that room, as he cannot perveive it. Actually, the movie as a whole didn't dive into Rocky being blind often, which I found a bit upsetting. It's a big difference between the two species, after all.
I also wasn't very happy with how quickly they went through the taomoeba breeding. Rocky was present for it in the movie, considering it'd die with just the slightest pinch of nitrogen. Actually, the movie didn't even mention why the nitrogen bothered Rocky as well; it's because Erid's astrophage breeding planet has an atmosphere that is 8.2 percent nitrogen, far more than Venus. In the book, you could really feel the desperation witn each trial, as well as the anticipation. The celebration was truly earned there, as it took a rather long time to pull off.
The final cut detail is honestly minor, but I feel it had a very big impact in the book. Stratt's final conversation with Grace, where she opens up about her history degree and what she truly thinks will happen to the Earth after Grace leaves. It's a very heavy-hitting scene, exploring the nature of humanity and how everything centers around food. Food, honestly, is a rather important detail in the book. The whole conflict starts because astrophage consumes light, and it's resolved with a species that eats the astrophage. We see Grace worry about his food supply, how Rocky's species is ashamed of how they eat (which they changed in the movie), and the discovery that Grace can eat taomoeba. Stratt discusses how the world will go to war once things get too cold, it's just the pattern of human history. A country will never leave her people to starve, and that is why many wars started throughout human history. That conversation was what truly sold a lot of the story to me. The author did all the research needed, and it showed in moments like this. The movie, on the other hand, didn't seem to build off of that research to make the adaptation. And for that, I can always say the book is magnitudes better than the movie, even if the movie was rather good.
