It was noon, and Brighton was already on her third Starbucks run of the day. As a new business woman, she had to keep up a certain image. She had also just reached 33.5 million Instagram followers, so that called for a celebration. In fact, there was a ton of different reasons for grabbing another over-priced beverage. Not that she couldn’t afford it. Brighton was in an unusual good mood today, and she was just seeing fans everywhere. She tapped on the shoulder of the person in front of her in the line, whispering, “Hey, I’m officially more famous than Gigi Hadid now, so your coffee’s on me."

“Everything gets a little better with bubbles! This is actually totally reminding me a of a foam party I went to in Ibiza, we should do that here sometime!” 

It was her first full day in Vero Beach, and yet Mackenzie already had tons of research to do. To make it all a bit more bearable, she’d grabbed her book and settled down on a bench in front of the apartment complex. Okay, maybe she spent less time reading and more time people-watching, but it all paid off when she glanced up just at the right moment to see someone trip a few feet away from her. “You don’t need to check if anyone saw that, cause I already did. So I think this is when you act natural and start the ‘I totally meant to do that’ routine.”

Henry slid his dollar into the vending machine and punched in the number to get a packet of chips. As the machine did its work, Henry looked down at his phone for a moment, checking his emails and texts to make sure no one suddenly needed him urgently. However, after a while he realised he hadn’t heard the sound of the chips hit the bottom of the vending machine. Looking up, he saw that they were stuck between their original place and the window. Of course this would happen to him. A groan left his mouth before he placed his head against the vending machine, admitting defeat already. He just wanted his chips.

It was towards the end of dinner rush at the Lemon Tree restaurant where Yuri found himself cleaning tables. Something he thought he never be doing, but he was wiping crumbs off table tops, and shoving dirty dishes in a bin to be washed, and he’d kept doing it. 

“It’s rude to stare at strangers, you know. Yes, I’m talking to you. You could at least say hello.”

Before entering the apartment complex, Karina decided to go for a quick smoke. It was a habit she had been meaning to quit, though she kept putting it off. ‘One more won’t hurt’ she kept telling herself. This was her last packet she promised herself. Standing outside of the building, she slipped one into her mouth and lit it. A few metres to her right, she noticed someone looking rather lost, or confused, or dazed. She debated whether she should ignore them, but it was too embarrassing to watch. “Is there something I can help you with, dear?”

Emerson let the person at his door knock for almost a full minute, hoping they’d go away.
