“My apologies that you had to hear that, my Lady.” He told her. He had just finished an argument with General Hux who was demanding him that if he was to be a commander of his own squadron of TIE fighter he would have to wear a uniform. But Ben was refusing to wear such a thing. The uniforms looked uncomfortable and stiff. He needed to be able to move within his outfit and breathe in order to fly anything properly. Profane words had been thrown and it was clear that they to them were butting heads. “How can I help you?”

Slowly, he turned around to face Rey -- his eyes connecting with hers immediately. “Surrender yourselves and I’ll make sure they’re dealt with quick.”

“Rey? Are you almost ready?” 

Flames filter through the air and hit the ground, Snoke lies dead but the voice inside of his head is not quelled. What would it take for it all to end? And now he is standing here looking towards her - a future - perhaps, or an idea of it. He had seen what she could become, what they could become together if only one of them would yield. Would it be him? He tightens his jaw as his lips press together in a nervousness. His future in someone else’s hands, he feels sick.

Ben hated that he flinched whenever someone reached out to him. He shouldn’t, he really shouldn’t but he did and he hated that it was something that he was going to have to accept. Listening to her he shook his head and looked away but he knew she was right it just wasn’t that easy for him. Trust was something that he was having to learn again and something that he wanted to not have to worry about but he did and it was going to take time. When she reached out to touch him, to touch his face he wanted to pull away and he almost did but he forced himself to let her touch him, to try and trust her. “Letting someone help requires trust and that’s never come easy to me,” he admitted.

Rey and Ben have a long distance relationship friendship drama going on at this point, but the tone of their communications feels just like this picture! I have been totally caught up in this fic all week, and spent a very happy hour reading the newest update today! If you’re not reading it, you definitely should be!!!!
