My thought process with this track was based on the lyrics.
âiâll find the faith in anythingâ /Â âif the world ends tonight, youâll be in my armsâ /Â âfrozen in timeâ /Â âI love this feeling, so rewind repeat itâ
âjust close your eyes, and all you need to see, is your heart and mine underneath the sheetsâ
On the surface thereâs a theme running through the song about stripping things back the love between two people is the focus. But looking into things a bit further, thereâs also hints towards a bit of loneliness or the two people not actually being together.Â
The part about closing your eyes and imagining something that isnât physically there, and the idea of something being âfrozen in timeâ made me think of a recording. Obviously then with the track being called Rewind Repeat It my thoughts shifted to a cassette tape.

This line definitely connected to my ideas. Itâs as though itâs saying, if youâre feeling down, rewind a recording and be reminded of the love.
The cassette idea was tweaked a fair bit, and the handwritten font is something i went back and forth on for a while as introducing a new style of type to the artwork could have made things look a bit disjointed. In the end, i kept it in as it felt more personal, which better conveyed the themes of the song.
Here is where I started to put in little details that some might completely skip over. The screws on the cassette are arranged to have Garrixâs + and x. These little tweaks are things that iâm a complete sucker for in artwork. Even if most people donât notice them, its a subtle touch that themes and refines the design a bit more.
A second approach was the simple rewind and repeat symbols youâd find on media players. When making this Iâd started to think and plan a lyric booklet full of double page spreads for each song, and I wanted to start building up supporting visuals that would fill these pages. This idea is really simple and blunt but iâd got an idea involving some type which iâll blog about in a bit.
