not necessarily in the ‘thank you you were amazing i loved everything about you’ way that I felt about DTLA, Reno, or even Sac...because you definitely didn’t treat me perfectly. but more like east coast thank you thank you thank you, for letting me feel everything this year.

everything I felt here - for some reason - I felt tenfold. every emotion I had was felt so much more deeply, amplified to the loudest echoes in my empty body. what is it about the city? the highs were higher than I could’ve ever imagined, and the lows? - so low.

here, I got to see myself at my most adventurous and eager - and also my most disappointed and frustrated. I’ve felt thankful and I’ve felt resentful. I’ve felt my coldest (RIP Nor’easters), and I’ve felt my most humid (well, almost - Taiwan still takes the cake). I’ve felt the loneliest I’ve ever been, and also the most loved I’ve ever been. some days I felt so sad it made me sick to my stomach, and others I felt nauseous with the rush of excitement. some days I couldn’t get out of bed for hours at a time, and others I wanted to laugh and run wild around the city all night. in the wise words of life guru Taylor Swift: “I never knew I could feel that much, and that’s the way I loved you.”
