Introducing Main Features of 90Edges Universe

Before I write something about main features I would like to share a new space station made by Michal Hantl in 90Edges Universe 0.0.6-alpha. It is based on his space station we shared on Twitter few days ago. Click on the screenshot to see it in HD.

Main features:

Explore - On your space station will be available a space telescope which can be used for observation of distant galaxies and other outer space objects. When you find nice place (nice galaxy or something) you may jump (with “hyperspace" jump drive - FTL) with whole space station deep into unknown universe close to the object you just found. It looks like we will be able to provide such a big zoom that you may see one single star in distance of 14 billion parsecs (distance which  represent the radius of the visible universe - in real universe we live in). There will be also possibility to find and explore other player’s space stations (inside). 

Build - You may build space station and then build structures and puzzles (in corridors) inside your space station. There will be possibility to design and build space stations for other players to explore (and solve your puzzles inside). Other features related to building are under consideration. We will let you know later.

Cooperate - One way of cooperation will be based on sharing of processed astrophotographies with other players. Processed astrophotography contain additional information as e.g. distance. Computer on your space station will “struggle" to process one astrophotography. Because of time consumption to process them you may prefer to exchange astrophotographies with other players. There will be also possibility to catalogue galaxies. Other multiplayer features are still under consideration. We will let you know later.

Parallel universes

I am currently working on 90Edges 0.0.7-alpha (next weekly build). Few days ago Antonin Charvat provided me the first final song (it is called Dark Matter). I have to finish sound support in 90Edges Framework to be able to use it in the next version of 90EU.

It is nice to see procedurally generated universe together with Antonin’s space station (is’s called Scorpio). I just finished basic support for textures. Space stations with at least simple texture on every space station segment looks better. When I finish deletion of individual space station segments and support for undo and redo in space station editor 90Edges Universe 0.0.3-alpha will be ready for internal testing!
