#revising progress

So we’ve just finished talking to two more of our editors, both of whom were tasked with plot/sensitivity editing.

They had a lot of good notes, including:

Keeping our main character’s brothers distinct, so they fulfill different roles rather than blending together

Adding some more early detail about our main child character’s issues

Making sure one character had a logical arc 

Adding a bit more of the Cuban culture 

Setting the scene a bit more in our love interest’s apartment

Showing the reason behind a certain character’s personality shift

Showing the evolution of how our POV character sees the love interest

(Yes, we’re being vague.  Can’t give too much away!)

We’ve gone through and made our second sweep of edits including re-writing the entire opening scene a few more times.  This edit was focused on removing filtering words, extraneous words, and tightening up description. 

Currently the novel is now out for a cultural sensitivity edit which we encourage all authors to do.

Once we get it back, we’ll be turning it over to our copy/line editor.  Ideally we’ll be able to publish this year. 

For us, we spent most of our last couple of word wars totally redoing the first chapter of our original novel.  In the fic, it was basically a name-dropping who’s-who of AU creation and didn’t actually introduce the characters in their later on pivotal roles.  That’s changing. 

I’m actually glad that we’re able to go back and do major revision.  I mean who doesn’t want more snarky brother interaction?  LOL
