       MAI KWON is kind. she is kind ; wildflowers dancing in the wind. sunset with YELLOW pink orange hues. the smell of rain on pavement. the quiet LOUD after a first snowfall. the epitome of calm.

      the WILDFLOWERS will encircle and tangle around ankles until one cannot move. the petals will fill throats, strangle and choke until the words no longer belong to their owner, they are hers. the sunset will burn and SHRIVEL ; deprive of water and give strokes. it melts ice caps and kills species. rain CORRODES and poisons if there is a donation of hydrogen ions. it floods parks and rivers ; leaves people without homes. snow piles up. it piles and brings ice , sleet, hail. the ice will kill those student drivers who have too much to live for. the hail will crack windows and rob people of the only heat they have. the sleet will BLIND. the cold will become freezing; there is no rest for death by hypothermia. 

    yes, mai kwon is kind. but do not FORGET how she was taught to be cruel. she knows how to CRUSH and kill. it’s been beaten into her. she does not like to do that. it is a side of her that makes her want to vomit. but that does not MEAN she does not know how. some of the strongest lessons are the ones that aren’t from a textbook, after all.

    “ e x c u s e m e ? “ oh, how much her tone resembles that of her mother’s. her arms are crossed over her chest, and the wind billows her long, ivory knee length sweater. her hair is pushed BACK in the same direction. the glare is hard to miss, as it seems to burn a hole into her friend. “ no, please, say that again. ” a command. it’s a rare time. mai’s words are CRUEL and mocking. daring for gabriel to say something once more, knowing she can and will undermine the words that he has. steal them from his very throat for thinking he can say anything against her when she’s like this.

       “ you shouldn’t be DOING this. don’t i get a say in this? a choice? “

     a bewildered SCOFF tumbles from her lips. ( she’s DRUNK with the power she’s forgotten she’s always kept sheathed in the back of her mind, by biting the inside of her cheek. someone take it away from her !! we’ve all seen what she does when she’s shitfaced. )

      her voice is hard, and the wind starts to sting her eyes as mai begins to scowl. “ i am so SICK and tired of people telling me what to DO ; what i can and can’t know. ”

     “ i’m trying to pr—- ”

      “ STOP! i don’t want your protection! i don’t want your pity! “ there are tears in her eyes but no longer from the wind. the frustration is building and snowballing in her chest ; she feels like she’s going to burst. the petals she THOUGHT she could control are taking away her very breath … “ i try. i try so hard to do what people want, what people expect from me. but i’m TIRED. i’m so sick and tired of it. ” mai’s voice is tired. broken. ( she’s struggled with the concept for so long, it’s only worse to hear it out LOUD. ) 

     “ i’m not going to let ANYONE else get hurt. my decision is final. ”

      ( her fragile hands are not USED to this kind of power, && they tremble with the intensity. she is drunk with this power. we can only hope she won’t remember it in the MORNING. )
