As far as performances go, Lights is simply one of the best. She has such a great amount of energy on stage, and interacts with her audience and keeps them engaged throughout the entire show. Lights usually mixes it up a bit, playing songs from all three of her albums (The Listening, Siberia, and latest record, Little Machines) and changes up the set list each night.

I managed to see Lights three times this past weekend in both Austin and Houston, Texas, and was able to finally see her perform an acoustic set, which was very soothing and fun to listen to and sing along to. The acoustic performance had what Lights called, “Campfire vibes”, as the entire record store sang and hummed along with her.

At both the Austin and Houston shows, Lights thoroughly engaged the audience in her performances, getting off stage to hug, sing, and hold people’s hands, and giving quirky little inspirational speeches between some songs; my favorite was, “We’re gonna dance…I don’t know why I’m standing like this (standing in runners stance) but it makes me feel…powerful. And that’s the thing; if you move your body to whatever you’re feeling at the time, that is truly the experience of the moment. So just dance! Loosen up those gears, because there’s gears inside of you all, you know that?” Her boundless energy and constant positive vibes are what really draw people toward her, I believe. Every time I enter a room or venue that she’s in, positivity radiates all around. She’s such a great talent, and such a great person to see live; extremely entertaining. I suggest if she’s ever playing near you, you go and see he/ Don’t forget to get there early enough to see the opening act, and close friends of Restless Press X Ambassadors.
