Compostable cups and utensils were introduced earlier this year at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, specifically at Restaurantosaurus and Dino-Bite Snacks. With that update, a new set of trash and recycling cans was introduced. 3 choices are now available at these locations, aligned as "Trash," "Recycle," and "Compost." Grey TRASH cans are intended for "Packets, Wrappers, & Packaging," while blue RECYCLE cans are designated for "Bottles, Cans, & Cartons." Restaurantosaurus at Animal Kingdom plays nothing but Walk the Dinosaur by Was (Not Was) all day, every day. Cast member turnover is around 3 weeks.
Detail inside Restaurantosauras at DAK - likely one of those things that warrants a single glance and no more consideration than that from many, many people who pass by it or eat under it yet has surprising tonal and implied nuance.
The backstory is of course that paleontologists and their students/interns decorated this locale, so, sloppily painted dinosaur makes sense. Furthermore, this area is themed like a garage/motor pool formerly, so that may well be oil and grease they had laying around. Peel back another, layer, though, and the relation to ancient cave paintings depicting mastodons and the like (which after all are just finger painting in essence) melds with the ‘outsider art’ influence evident in Chester and Hester’s giftshop - the Watts Towers/roadside attraction artistic ethos, if you will. And I think that level of mixed bizarro tone is wonderful for those who do notice it, and even more so when layered into a ‘simple’ single element by the Disney design staff.
