Hello friends! How is everyone? It’s been a while since I posted on here, things have been very busy and I’ve sort of fallen off the tumblr hook oops 😅
It’s mind blowing how fast the end of the semester is approaching~ sometimes it still feels like January !!! There have been highs and lows since the last time I checked in, but I’m so grateful to have the experiences I’ve gotten and be able to see my growth over the semester. I’m excited to be continuing in this lab over the summer and to keep the research going :) hopefully I’ll remember to take more pictures ahahah

Going to miss the sunlight I get from this apartment, but hopefully the new one gets just a bit so my plants can thrive 😭
How’s everyone doing? This week has been exhausting- I think combined with getting the second shot, as well as the amount of socializing I did Thursday evening with my lab folks, I’m wiped out. Hopefully my week off next week will bring my energy levels back up and I’ll be more motivated to get things done. I think I’m also building up on grad school prep stress, so gotta figure out how to calm that down 😅
Here’s to hoping for a relaxing week 🙌🏻

Hello friends! How’s everyone doing? Here’s our weekly update on how things are going on my end:
This week was the start of what I think the next few months will be like~ long and busy days, full of work and learning. Which I’m extremely excited about, but I genuinely felt my brain shutting down Friday afternoon and I felt kinda bad having to ask about almost every step twice 😭 I’ve dissected mice, which is getting easier?????????? each day?????? Not really, but the process of dissecting is less riveting I guess. But I’ve got actual data and I’m trying to really learn how to explain it properly, and that’s been helping with the overall understanding of my project too!
Today was a really nice day here, had 75F weather! Took myself out on a walk to campus and really just took in the sunshine and the breeze. Being in lab all day has limited the time I spend outside, but I am grateful that I got to have that today.
I hope everyone’s doing alright! As always, feel free to drop me a message if you ever want to talk :)

Hello!!! So I started my research program that I’d mention in a previous post this Tuesday, and I’m thinking maybe I’ll document my thoughts/feelings on here every week or so. I’m not taking any classes this semester, so I probably won’t have too many notes to share, but maybe aesthetic or not so aesthetic lab pics will suffice haha.
But anyways, week one! It’s been so amazing~ being back in lab has been such a great feeling after not going for ~10 months due to rona. I’ve been working with a postdoc on some of her experiments, and all the people in the lab seem so sweet and encouraging. I think the most terrifying thing about all this is working with mice because they’re so squirmy and yeah, it’ll be an interesting adventure, and I’m excitedddd
Just enrolled in this research program. Filled out questionnaires online and had a 15-20 minutes visit to draw blood and take body measurements. Please read and consider joining. Biggest bonus for me is the genetic testing. Like a combo of 23 and Me plus medical genetic issues screenings. The genetic testing which would cost hundreds of dollars is free as part of the program.
Look it over and consider if you would like to be included. Oh, and $25 gift card after in person appointment.

What is the importance of high school research in university admissions? How does research boost university admission chances?
High school research enhances admission chances to top-tier institutions by 25%, with Harvard Admissions Office data revealing an eightfold advantage for academic creativity. Demonstrating initiative, self-discipline, and originality, research projects become a pivotal factor in admissions at universities like UPenn and CalTech. As colleges shift away from standardized tests, they increasingly value research projects as game-changers in admissions. Beyond academia, research develops skills valued by employers, offering diverse career choices and informing students' professional decisions, making it an essential and transformative aspect of high school and future trajectories.
