john had MORE THAN ENOUGH SECRETS these days , and though he had stayed with ezio for more than a month now he hadn’t told him the extend of his relationship to cesare . whenever the conversation turned to the man he had steered it away , which ezio had clearly noticed . so much that it had brought a chill to their shared bed , made john sit up , and look down at his lover . what sort of PILLOW TALK was it to talk of a former lover ? at least there’s a glass of wine by the bed , and john reaches for it , about to savour it , but instead he empties the glass . “ you know i worked for him .. i’m fairly certain you’ve realised i also slept with him .. ” but it went deeper than that , and john lays back down next to his lover , hand trailing down his arm , then snakes around his middle as he rests his face on his chest , fingers idly caressing naked skin . “ what i DON’T think you know is that i loved him , for quite a while . so long that i eventually told him , hoping it could be more than shared nights of depravity , lazy mornings . something meaningful . when i admitted it .. ” john sighs , not daring to look him in the eyes , fearing that he will get kicked out of the second bed this year . “ he did not take kindly to that , and suggested that i only said so to manipulate him . that was when i knew i wasn’t safe any longer . you had left me alive too many times when you could so easily have slit my throat in the darkness , and cesare thought i planned on using him . that was the day you and i finally talked , and agreed to meet the next day . and that was the day we kissed , and i ran off with you . ”
he looks up then , wondering , hoping that ezio somehow understands . “ do you hate me ? i’d understand it . i thought .. i HOPED that he could love me , or be capable at love at the very least . but being with you i realised that he is a lot of things i didn’t see , blinded by his charm . ” it had been easy to fall . too easy . but ezio had helped him back up on his feet . this wasn’t what he wanted to hear surely . “ so i guess you stole his lover , ” he says , to lighten up the mood .
