15 August 1944. The first air-to-air victory by a jet was achieved by Feldwebel Helmut Lennartz, downing a B-17 Flying Fortress in a Me 262.

On 12 August 1940 the Luftwaffe struck at the “eyes” of Fighter Command. Bf 110Cs from Erprobungsgruppe 210 attacked the Chain Home radar stations at Dover, Rye and Pevensey. It was a prelude to Adlertag. The British quickly repaired most of the damage.
