ZEPH, MY MATE, MY BROTHER, MY DUDE, MY FELLOW ARO-ACE
This. This is so important guys. This is exactly how I feel. It’s so damn good seeing a part of me being represented.
I’ve always seen my friends saying how much they seek for romantic love in their lives. We hear how “everyone wants to love and be loved” in a romantic way.
But no. Not everybody is like this. This is something that never came to me. I don’t need nor want this. I don’t need nor feel like having sex.
Thank you PB. You never cease to amaze me.
Representation matters - everywhere, in all different kinds of places. I started aikido because I saw a friendly non-Japanese my age training in the dojo where we enrolled our kid and who was clearly well liked and respected by everyone else. I figured everyone was welcome, despite my very poor language skills and ridiculous hand-foot, left-right coordination. There were a few women practicing, but all were already black belts, so it was almost daunting actually. There were next to no white belts, and none who were over 20. Today, less than two years later, I realize that we are now several “old” white belts (read: over 30). More than half are women, and a few are non-Japanese. Everyone has told me at some point that it was because they saw me on the mats. So to all of you out there, practicing martial arts or something else, and who stand out from the crowd for whatever reason, know that you can actually make a difference for other people. Not that you need to become a “role model” or be exceptional or outstanding. Sometimes it’s just enough “to be there” and “to do it” to encourage perfect strangers to take that one step. I’m so happy I got that chance.

"i AM passionate about my work. i hated every work i ever had"
So Crazy Rich Asians has been finally released here in Brazil and dammit it feels damn good to see some representation!!! Such a great movie. I could relate to both Rachel and Nick. My family is fairly traditional too (and I grew up with my traditional grandparents too, and I’m the oldest grandkid. This is such a big deal y’all, you have no idea), but I know that if someday I go to Japan and/or China (my family’s countries of origin), they won’t see me as Japanese/Chinese. They’ll see me as Brazilian. And here in Brazil, people don’t see us as Brazilians; they see us as Asians. So I could relate a lot to both of them. I loved the movie.
I’m just not crazy rich *sigh* 😔 just a bit crazy
