Genuinely scary how good and real emails scams are getting and I think people are genuinely underestimating how dangerous it is

#people still pretending scams are still just Nigerian princes when it’s an exact copy of your bank saying you need to login to your account #from this link if you want to prevent 20k from being stolen in the next twenty mins #few weeks ago I got an email from a girl at the same college I go to same domain name my college dot edu #and it sent a google form saying if I didn’t enter my username and password in the next few hours my account would be deleted #mind you my degree is fully online #luckily my school has gone through this so much they have a page to go to and it said it will never ask for your login over email so I #reported it #I was almost sure it was a scam but I was worried because it was from a real students account #and the ones from apple and Amazon look so real #and often the emails look realistic as well it’s scary #I can still usually tell but it’s getting noticeably harder and I’m sure if you did the research scamming through emails pretending to be #Amazon or apple or a bank has shot through the rough the past few years #daily reminder kids that companies won’t ask for your password through an email #they will not ask for your entire credit card number or social security #they definitely won’t ask for gift cards or bitcoin #rule of thumb is to always call the official costumer service number from their website #even if you’re completely sure always verify #on the phone get it in writing before you enter any sensitive information #usernames passwords credit card bank number and social security are the big five to look out for #rae’s rambles

Just a heads up that the russian propaganda bot whose blog is entirely about reblogging ai generated images of men in tights keeps making new blogs and coming back. The bot's main activity seems to be looking for posts about Ukraine and posting ruscist rot in replies.
