if the gate of divinity is in fact the crucible (which i think is a very real possibility) then i assume the reason for the omens being so hated and marika cursing them so much is that they're an example of the power of the crucible (something she eternally despises given its connection to the hornsent and the fact that at least some of her people were melded to it) continuing to exist even after the original crucible was destroyed and as a result are a reminder of the traumatic past she can never fully escape. no wonder she would be so horrified at giving birth to omens; it would be a sign of her body having been corrupted by the crucible during her ascension. her revulsion at that knowledge may have been the catalyst for her to kick godfrey out and to get with rennala, someone whose power comes from the purity and gentleness of the moon rather than anything primordial.

So after SOTE gave me new shipping fuel for rennamari AND some amazing new Marika lore I couldn't help writing a little something hurt/comfort-y about them during their married years. "To Be Uprooted" is that little something. You can expect to see Marika PTSD nightmares, comfort by her loving wife, and a powerful need to protect her dear children. Enjoy!
