no but!!! i'm pretty sure i've written one before although i can't remember the details for the LIFE of me. i'm very down and think exploring things outside of monogamy, whatever that looks like, is interesting. however the hurdles come with typically needing to find 1) compatibility between more than 2 muses 2) the same but with writing partners provided you have one person writing each muse and 3) it needs to actually make sense for the muses too.

e.g. mr. grace over here is never doing that LMAO he needs to devote himself to One (1) person only and has very conventional views of relationships and romance that he struggles to break through even in subtler ways, let alone accepting the idea of having multiple partners, it would be too much. i think over on my multi elizabeth stands out as most prime candidate but even then the dynamics would have to be Specific (she needs to be the center of attention basically LMAO) and there's a few others i could see but it's not with any particular ship in mind so much as their dynamics/relationships with romance as a whole.

SOOOOO lovey. touchy!!! it doesn’t matter who someone is to him ( unless he really doesn’t like them ) because he is throwing compliments out like hotcakes. if anyone’s seen the fall guy there’s a particular scene at the hotel reception desk that is spot on but i don’t have a link >:( it’s a lot of ‘you look pretty today. like REALLY pretty. WOW, did you change your hair?’ and twirling strands of it in his fingers. the inhibitions are all gone and almost go to the opposite end of the spectrum where thoughts flow out unbidden. this also means he’s had his fair share of hook ups because while he’s not necessarily deliberately shooting his shot, his attraction is more openly expressed and he’s a good looking guy! so when it’s reciprocated then yeah he’s had his flings and nights at other people’s places.

he also struggles to focus a whole lot more so might stare quite intently while listening to the other person talking and take in absolutely none of it! if this is a partner his staring also comes with its fair share of inappropriate thoughts, which may or may not just get voiced because again, inhibitions? gone!

he doesn’t actually enjoy getting drunk very often for this reason, having quite meticulously crafted a form of self assessment to avoid awkward situations and stay on a fairly consistent level of humour and detachment from people. he will feel very embarrassed in retrospect and either feign a lack of memory or outright apologise profusely depending on the level of the interaction. he also has a very sensitive stomach so if he’s had more than a couple drinks? anyone near him will probably be holding his hair back and dealing with a very sicky ryland.

in terms of what he drinks, he is san francisco born and bred and loves a sweet and fruity cocktail. strawberry daiquiris ( not the frozen kind ) and lemon drop martinis, palomas, and any tiki bar style rum and pineapple mixes are bound to be winners. they’re so tasty it’s dangerous, because he won’t pick up on the alcohol content until it’s too late.

also!!! as a last minute edit, i don’t claim the initial wake - up scene from the movie, ryland does not get sloshed on vodka and the only time alcohol really comes up is during the party/celebration rocky and he have upon successfully breeding the nitrogen resistant taumoeba strain.

i was already very fond of this guy but after having written with you and having read all your hcs for him and everything it just endeared him to me even further. u bring the character to life in a way that's just sooooooooooo uh. trying to finfd the word. radiant, let's say. day honestly i tried replying to this like an hour ago and just reread it for the 4th time and crashed KLSDLFLKF this is SOOOOOOO sweet??? and like. book based or not ry's general demeanour is more or less consistent across both medias imo so i am taking the compliment and RUNNING <3

OXFORD , a home for the soon to be graduate (DR) - a personal loan from the family he works for , (AN EDUCATION OF A LIFETIME!) doubled for size obviously and of course we can't escape his science puns but i digress! at his core ryland isn't really a pessimist or optimist, having equal capability to point out the downsides to a situation as well as the silver linings of it. it is a scientist's nature to criticise and look for flaws, to turn something at all angles to find its weak spots, so ryland can often have a more analytical approach that may come across as negative. more importantly he also has a pretty cynical outlook on life due to not having had much exposure to the finer things ( love, new experiences, travel, lasting memories ) and therefore not having a lot to write home about. his view of his future and space in the world is extremely pessimistic and demeaning.
