In the past two days, 500 Ukrainian defenders and two Ukrainian civilians have been released from Russian captivity and returned to Ukraine. 🇺🇦👏💙💛🙏🇺🇦

Among them are soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard, and the State Border Guard Service who defended the country in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson regions, and in Mariupol. Most had been held for more than a year, some since 2022.

Two Ukrainian civilians were also brought back today.

Among them are both civilians and military personnel, including defenders of Mariupol and “Azovstal” plant, as well as of Kharkiv, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions. Many of them have severe injuries. All of them will receive the necessary medical assistance.

Among them are military personnel – defenders of Azovstal and Mariupol, the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant, Zmiinyi Island, and various frontline sectors. These are National Guardsmen, including Azov fighters, border guards, territorial defense forces, and servicemen of the Navy and Armed Forces. Additionally, two civilians captured in Mariupol have also been freed.

We continue working to free every Ukrainian held in Russian captivity. This is our priority and our mission: to save and protect all our people.

#Repost @kyivindependent_official with @use.repost . . . Ukraine has brought back 90 people from Russian captivity on June 25 as part of a prisoner exchange, President Volodymyr Zelensky said.

This is the 53rd prisoner exchange since the outbreak of the full-scale war. The former captives were exchanged for 90 Russian soldiers, the Russian state news agency RIA Novosti reported, citing the country’s Defense Ministry.
