Service members of the Armed Forces, the National Guard, and the State Border Guard Service. 139 of them had been held captive since 2022.

The youngest freed Ukrainian defender is 23. He was captured at 19 while defending Mariupol and was illegally sentenced by a Russian court to life imprisonment. The oldest defender released today is 63.

Today’s exchange took place after a long pause, and we thank everyone working to make these exchanges possible. We must, and we will, bring everyone back.

Each exchange brings our people closer to home. Ukraine continues working to return everyone from Russian captivity.

On August 24, 2024, coincident with the celebration of its Independence Day, Ukraine welcomed home another 115 Ukrainian soldiers from Russian captivity. 🇺🇦👏💙💛🙏🇦🇪

#Repost @kyivindependent_official with @use.repost . . . President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed on Aug. 24 that 115 Ukrainian soldiers were brought back from Russian captivity.

Among those brought back were soldiers from the National Guard, army, navy, and the State Border Guard Service.

“We remember everyone. We are searching for them and making every effort to bring them all back,” Zelensky said.

The president thanked his “team and partners, the UAE, for bringing our people back home.”

#[email protected] with @use.repost . . . Ukraine has returned 22 Ukrainian defenders from Russian captivity 🇺🇦💪 All of them will undergo physical and psychological rehabilitation and receive medical treatment.

Since the full-scale Russian invasion began, Ukraine has liberated 2,598 soldiers from Russian detention. We will not leave anyone behind. All Ukrainian defenders must be brought home. Russia must be held accountable for its inhumane treatment of Ukrainian prisoners.
