#regression headcanons

I didn't expect to get a request for little Soldier Boy/Ben but I'm glad I did! This was very fun to make & I personally love this aesthetic so much :]

Didn't know if you meant a paci edit on the mood-board or if you wanted it as a separate thing but I just made a paci edit of him separately so hopefully that's okay (?▽?◦)

I added a weighted blanket to the mood-board, but I'm not sure if the weight would be comforting or constricting to him. Maybe he would just sleep with no blanket?

I imagine Ben’s regressed age fluctuates… maybe usually six to around the teenage years??? I know that pacifiers don't make too much sense for older regressors but maybe it would be more a comfort thing to him. And that pacifiers would be a good thing to chew, also a thing I Imagine him doing. Since he smokes so much weed to me it makes sense for him to regress to teen years and act... well exactly like himself. Vulgar and rebellious. I also think Ben would have a lot of fidget toys/just fidget with things a lot in general.

I didn't mean to add head-canons to this post but while making the mood-board and paci edit, they kinda just came to me. Tell me if you (dis)agree with my head-canons, or have anymore to add! I'd really love to hear them.

physically regresses to her ‘cotton candy’ style from Ruby and Sapphire’s early days together 

prefers to spend regression days in the woods or underwater, staying away from humans but surrounded with wildlife 

she still remembers how bright everything was, when she was new, and that’s what she keeps coming back to

sometimes Ruby and Sapphire will roleplay meeting again for the first time to get into the right space: usually she unfuses and reforms to regress, but sometimes it happens when she’s Garnet the whole time 

really interested in the flora and fauna: she pets the wildlife and gathers flowers and leaves to press at home 

likes to lie or float in the water and feel the sunlight 

explores with all senses: feeling, tasting, scanning, future vision, smell 

one of her favourite things to do is to explore a new climate: jungle, deep ocean, arctic: she likes to warp to a new section of the earth that she hasn’t spent much time in and spend time discovering it 

uninterested in regressing to a human childhood, but loves the experience of being new 

I think Ruby and Sapphire might be more interested in human-ish age regression, but Garnet is first and foremost a fusion, with no interest in pretending otherwise 

Normally regresses to somewhere between 2 and 8, but can be very fluid and sometimes doesn't even have a set age, just Small

Talks non-stop. Has literally lost his voice in the past from talking his cg's ear off

(Bonus points if it was Bakugou who just turns his hearing aids off and Denki didn't even notice)

Would love to have juice as much as possible but has been put on a juice restriction because the sugar gets him too wound up

Has a tendency to regress after overloading his quirk

(the bakusquad knows this and always helps him get to a safe and private location before he bursts into tears)

Has lots of small stuffies, since he's picky about how his bed is set up and bigger stuffies would take too much space, and he has to have all of his stuffies in bed with him or else they'll get lonely

The king of arts and crafts. Seriously, get this kid some glitter glue and colored paper and the next thing you know he's built a paper castle big enough to sit in

Hates the idea of naps but loves them once he's settled in bed

Loves the aesthetic of deco pacis but knows that even the strongest glue won't hold up to his hyperactivity

Tamaki Suoh as a Caregiver: 

loves to dance with you, spinning you around and around 

many, many, many presents. Anything you mention wanting, it’s yours 

loves planning outings: the zoo! The public gardens! He always gets a full picnic lunch made for the two of you, and pretends that he put it together

dresses you up, if you’ll let him: all kinds of different styles, and of course he has matching outfits for all of them

he’s very good at pretending to be brave when you’re holding his hand... (but he’s secretly thankful for your nightlight when you ask him to check under the bed for monsters) 

gets a little protective: if someone he doesn’t know approaches you, he gets between the two of you and checks that things are okay 

loves it when you fall asleep on top of him, and often scoots closer to you when you start to look sleepy 

Regressor!Tamaki: 

loves flowers, which is adorable, but also trouble, because he keeps picking them from strangers’ gardens. He also tends to get dirty in pursuit of the perfect daisy. 

master of throwing a tantrum when he wants something and then stopping immediately when he gets his way

you can tell that he’s genuinely upset when he gets quiet and withdraws: he usually falls out of regression when he’s sad, but sometimes he just gets nonverbal and more clingy 

picks things up and pretends they’re presents (ie. a fork, a stuffie, a pebble) and gets very happy when people coo over their ‘wonderful presents’ 

dress-up king: he especially likes wearing skirts that spin when he pirouettes, but he loves costumes of all kinds and cultures 

you have to be very careful what media he watches when he’s regressed, because he will lose it if someone gets hurt on-screen (he cried for an hour because of The Lion King and you never did finish the movie) 

clingy towards everyone he cares about: often gets worried and wants to know where all his friends were and wants to text them all the time and make sure they’re okay 

cuddle monster, likes nothing more than a lap to curl up on with all his long limbs 

gets very offended when people can’t tell what he’s drawn for them

Sans is a pet regressor, or at the very least a feral regressor: he doesn’t really regress in age, but nor does he identify with a specific animal 

non-speaking: can force a word or two if needed, but tends to growl as a warning or just stay quiet 

relies more heavily on Papyrus, who doesn’t notice when Sans isn’t talking 

sticks close to Papyrus when outside, relies on his cues to tell him when to attack or stay close 

has a few toys from the garbage heap, dirty and torn and hidden under his mattress 

usually shrugs off physical contact as an adult, but he can really panic when he’s regressed, which he hides with aggression 

tends to break his own things when he’s regressed, and then be very annoyed with himself later 

would benefit from a gentle and patient caregiver, but right now he’s just in the Fight version of fight-or-flight 24/7 when he’s regressed 

Papyrus can get irritated because Sans gets more insistent on following him, and doesn’t take his hints about splitting up 

eventually Papyrus either resigns himself to company or orders Sans away 

left to his own devices, Sans pets his few soft toys and then takes a nap, pressed against the wall for safety: he usually wakes up big again 

likes spending time in Waterfall and listening to conversations through the Echo Flowers

Michael likes age regressing: it’s calm, and comfortable, and something just for him 

he started regressing when he was a young adult, in his twenties: he occasionally experienced involuntary regression as a preteen/teenager, but doesn’t think of the two as related, mostly because he didn’t have the terminology when he was younger

all of his regression gear is very precious to him: a couple of onesies, a bucket of toys, and his stuffed animals 

he relies more on regression when he starts at the Magnus Institute: some of the work reminds him of his childhood experience with the supernatural, stirring up that trauma 

that’s about the time that things start to get strange for Michael: his regression gets less voluntary: sometimes he finds himself fighting it off at work 

at home, he gets deeper into headspace: he has to set alarms, he starts needing diapers, he generally finds himself dropping younger and having a harder time getting big again 

Michael assumes it’s stress: he tries to be patient with it, tries to do less on his days off 

but then the doors start appearing: doors in Michael’s apartment where there have never been doors before, he’s sure of it 

sometimes the doors are small, like Alice in Wonderland: then little Michael can’t resist opening them, peering inside to see a small hallway stretching away impossibly into the wall

Under the ‘keep reading’ I’ve collected links to my thirteen favourite moodboards from the seventy-three I made in 2023, and some of my favourite art and edits as well! 

featuring Light, Misa, Teru, and Kiyomi as regressors, with Rem and Ryuk as caregivers, for anon 

Light, Misa, and Teru are all baby regressors: Kiyomi is usually a big girl, 7 or 8, so she falls into a big sister role 

Rem doesn’t like interacting with either of the boys when they aren’t regressed, but she doesn’t mind them at all when they’re babies 

Ryuk is mischievous and tends to pull the whole group up in age so they can run around with him, getting the others into a rowdy toddler mindset that also makes them way more likely to fight with each other

Rem sticks this out with Kiyomi or whoever isn’t participating in the madness: she tells Ryuk of for riling up the kiddos, but she’s smiling 

Rem’s soft spot for Misa is visible from a mile away, but Ryuk is utterly unbiased: his favourite is whichever regressor is either a) playing with him or b) bribing him

also, ren is gentle enough with all of them that they never really feel left out 

Light is by far the quietest: he rarely interacts with the others, though Misa and Kiyomi can collaborate to get him to join quiet games like building things with them 

Light is more easily engaged by Ryuk, who will tickle him or make him run after him to get a toy back: he’s quickest to laugh when Ryuk is “bothering” him 

all four of the regressors are very clingy and don’t like it when one of their group is gone 

they like working on group projects: building the biggest lego castle or block tower, or all working on a big roll of paper with a pack of crayons scattered between them: they work around each other very efficiently
