In Regards to the Michael Kovach situation.
I believe, and this is something I'm sure many black people agree with as well, that this whole situation shows that people who say they get it, non-blacks, and even some black people unfortunately, DON'T GET IT.
There's a lot of people talking about how we shouldn't be as angry about anti-blackness because these people are not our "friends," which is a something that is honestly incredibly tone death and stupid. Black people should be able to interact with media and it's fandom's without having to experience anti-blackness. Black people have to always have their guard up, because they don't know when the next round of racism will fire at there skin.
Also it doesn't matter if it was 7, 8, 9, or even 10 years ago, at the end of the day, IT STILL HAPPENED! I wasn't like this this bitch was a child, no HE WAS WAY in his twenties.
Black people are not being immature by being angry and criticizing this white person for being anti-black. No matter how long ago, because black people, especially in fandom spaces will always have to deal with racism and anti-blackness wherever we go.
If it makes you uncomfortable that black people are so pissed about this, then that's fine. Just that instead of voicing that out, what you should instead do is look inward and reflect on why you're so okay with anti-blackness. Don't ever, try to discredit what black people about in situations that regard them, because YOU believe that the situation isn't as big to you.
So don't claim this shit is just some edgy joke. Call it as it is. RACISM AND ANTI-BLACKNESS DONE BY AN ADULT.
