Date.
Date and I'll write a drabble about our characters going on a date.
(AU in which Regulus is a still a Slytherin but has drifted away from his family's beliefs)
Regulus Black did not think he was the romantic type.
But that didn't stop him from trying. When he'd finally asked Amelia Bones out on a date, he hadn't put much thought into what that date was actually going to entail. Now, though, the morning of the big day, he was scrabbling to come up with something that would make the meeting more...date-ish.
His first attempt involved flowers. He'd conjured up a bouquet of roses, big red ones with bright green stalks and leaves, which left him quite impressed with himself. Then one of his Slytherin dorm mates had walked in and scoffed at them, shattering any pride Regulus had in the blooms. He binned them. Amelia didn't seem like the flowers kind of kind anyway, and he probably wasn't the flowers kind of guy either, for that matter.
Then he thought that maybe he should dress up, to make it appear as if he'd at least put some effort. However, all the dressy clothes he had in his trunk only reminded him of home. They practically oozed the name Black, and today, at least, he didn't particularly want to be a Black. A Black wouldn't have agreed to go out with a blood traitor, which was exactly what he was doing. Maybe it was better not to be a Black.
All of these deliberations took a couple of hours, and suddenly Regulus realised that there were only five minutes before the time he'd agreed to meet with Amelia. He sighed, giving up, and resigned himself to the fact that he had absolutely no idea what she'd want from him. They met in the Entrance Hall, along with all the other students heading for Hogsmeade.
"Er...Hi." he greeted her with awkwardly, his hands feeling incredibly empty and his casual pants and sweater looking boring next to the beautiful outfit she was wearing.
She only grinned though and took him by the hand, and he grinned back, thinking for the first time that maybe the Ravenclaw liked him for him, and not for anything he could do for her.
