This is a song I think I will never need not to hear again as it speaks from point of views of people outside the "Christian circle". In the song, Derek Minor represents a prostitute, Dee-1 a guy running the streets and Lecrae who represents a person that feels judge by Christians. We often just focus on the outer appearance and not look into the heart or history of the people we frown upon. We think it is too messy to get involved. Are we forgetting that we have dirt on us? That we are made out of dirt? Sis we forget that Jesus sat with the tax collectors, which at that time were the most hated people group? The Grace extended to us is not limited to just....us. First verse Minor describes a girl who was first touched by her dad at the age of 9 and then ran away at 15. A random guy took her in Fed her lies to get her in his "videos". She would smoke and drink to hide and suppress the pain. Some girls are forced into these "videos" or just resort to it, but as the view counts grows, so does the demand. Dee-1's description is popular as well. He describes a man who run the streets and doing whatever he has to do to survive. He says it is due to a lack of a role model, no one to help make his crooked path straight. Yes stealing is bad and is a crime. Yes dealing drugs are bad, but what is the motive behind it? This the only thing he knows. Not permitting it, just empathize with it. Third verse, Lecrae comes from someone who may be judged by Christians and may if have been hurt by them too. It is easier for us to love someone that are like minded or familiar to us. It is hard to love someone that is totally opposite from us. And we must be mindful of how we present the gospel. We have to remember that we are not too far from needing Grace. Love and humility will help us understand people and earn their trust. If you're the only Jesus they see...how are you representing Him?
