i think the ending of martin the warrior works so well because it’s unabashedly brutal. martin is pointedly not invincible and pointedly not okay. he DOES take damage in that last fight, to the point where he’s unconscious during the entire victory. and he takes damage losing rose, too, to the point where he doesn’t speak for months. and it’s so brave to show your hero that way.. it makes the story so strong and so awful and so believable

felldoh is such a tragic character like it genuinely makes me so sad because the way jacques wrote his character makes it clear that he’d never really heal from his trauma and the only way for him to make peace was to get as much revenge as he could and then be killed like it’s SO sad

i’m about halfway through lord brocktree now and i can’t stop thinking about how much brock loves that little baby hedgehog skittles... brock pretending to be cross and grumpy but then carrying skittles around everywhere and smiling whenever the kid talks to him?? ruff (i think) saying that skittles has brock wrapped around his little paw??? it’s literally so cute brock just wants to be a father figure.. he’s so good w/ kids :’)

i love dotti SO MUCH what a little badass!! when she and bucko were about to do their fighting challenge he was like ‘i’ve never hit a lassie before :( i promise not to hit you too hard’ and dotti, LEGEND, replied with ‘thank you, sir. and i promise not to let you hit me at all.’ LIKE?? HER POWER!!
