“No.” Maekar looked away, and that was worse than the anger. “There is something wrong with me.” “No.” The word came at once and Maekar flinched as though struck by it. Baelor stepped forward. “No.” “Do not.” “There is nothing wrong with you.” “You do not know what I feel.” “Then tell me.” Maekar’s expression twisted and for a heartbeat he looked younger than his years, younger even than the man who had come to Baelor’s chambers raging about Dyanna Dayne, younger than the prince who had watched Baelor marry Jena and told him to go to his wife. Then the look vanished beneath shame so complete Baelor felt it like a hand closing around his throat.
