What do you think of the headcanon that Boxer was Red's bodyguard?
I guess it never really hooked me, the idea that Boxer was paid to protect her. Even though being a bodyguard wouldn’t necessarily have required him to lay down his life for hers, it seems like it would have diluted the act of his sacrifice a bit.
I don’t know, though. Maybe it could have amplified it, because as a bodyguard, you’d think the only interest he’d have in her safety is strictly business. Then for him to go so way above and beyond might seem all the more a surprising act.
I’m really not sure. It seems odd that he’d be saying he loved her so soon after much of their relationship was purely professional. What I kind of like best (ordinary as it might seem in comparison), and what I think Greg Kasavin was trying to convey, anyway, was that they were really close friends, and the fact that they loved each other romantically kind of unfolded and revealed itself upon him stepping between her and the Camerata (to the player and possibly to the two of them, as well. I like the idea better that his feelings for her became apparent only after the attack).
I know the point of a headcanon is it’s your own idea/version of the original script, but I just really like what they were going for. People have these strong, warm friendships all the time while quietly harboring feelings, while showing that they will do just about anything for each other. Those are some of the most stirring love stories.
Not sure how headcannon-y this is but here it goes: In public Red was somewhat reserved, but in private she was talkative and fun-loving. She loved teasing Boxer/Blue and giving him a hard time, in an affectionate way. So all of Boxer's in game talking was more nervous chatting to fill the void.
Aw, I love that. He still gets a bit nervous to fill in any silence because he very clearly, canonically, is impressed by her, too. While in the game, it does appear that he’s doing it encouragingly, I never thought of it that way! That’s so poignant. Ah, poor Red!Plus, there are musicians and actors who are naturally introverted up close, so it wouldn’t be out of place for Red to be that way, too, even as a stage performer.Of course, Red didn’t have much choice but reticence, but all the same, Boxer must have secretly missed conversing and bantering with her. Maybe that’s why he was so happy to hear her humming.
Boxer tends to absentmindedly hum Red's songs to himself from time to time. The first time he went to one of her shows, he had a song of hers stuck in his head for a week.
I think my favorite thing ever was if you hesitated with the humming at the Empty Set, he’d softly encourage her. Just a slight, gentle but non-coddling coax. It was like he wasn’t just moved by her, he was also a part of it. Not in an imposing way, almost like scaffolding in that hard time. And in that point in time, things looked bad. She was just travelling further into a ruined home and he knew it, but he knew she could hum and that her music meant a world in itself to her. He knew it was vital, literally life-sustaining, for her to try.
Wearing Boxer's jacket was the first intimate exchange between the two. It became more symbolic for the both of them as time went on. Red would slip it from his shoulders unannounced and drape it over her own on a whim. Sometimes he'd be the one to slide out of it and help her settle in. Taking it with her upon his death only felt right, and if she concentrated hard enough she could still feel a lingering warmth.
Oh God not the last part.

is it me or was sybil raging at Boxer when you get to fight her.
On an ambiguous date Sybil had with Red, he literally stopped by and whale-flopped on their dinner table because he really likes the nori-crisps they serve before the meal. Also he didn’t want Red to get it on with her.
just to see you again
