#reboot idea

Today’s movie rewrite/reboot is the silent film Fanton the Cricket based on the book “La Patite Fadette.". Of all the rewrites I’ve done, I have never seen anything like what Old Hollywood has created. And because I have nothing else to do on my plate, I’ll be challenging myself by rebooting this story.

Disclaimer: This reboot is just for fun and for the sake of making it suitable for the next generation to enjoy. All ideas are based on what I believe things could have been if this story was given a second chance. 

Have the movie be made in 2D animation because with Hollywood in shambles, I do not believe a live-action movie would be a good idea.

Fadette’s little brother, whom I’ll be naming Marc, will be included and plays a supporting role in getting Landry and Fadette together. He’s also able to befriend Sylvanet when he is dealing with his depression and tries to cheer him up.

Landry and Sylvanet’s parents, named Leopold and Dorothee Barbeau in this version, run a wheat farming industry in the southern part of France. Because of their beliefs about raising their kids together, many rich families look down on them for being too soft. 

The alleged witch rumors about Fadette’s grandmother and her horrible reputation will be expanded upon. In this version, the grandmother—named Auriele—had been part of an herbal business back when the witch hunt was active and got detained after the mayor assumed she gave his wife a love potion. She thought she would be burned at the stake, but a TBD peddler boy bailed Auriele out. The two were forced to leave town and chose to live in the woods, eventually falling in love and starting a family. After her husband died, Aurielle never got over her grief and became a stubborn and horrible woman like in the silent film. As for the villagers, they still hold onto the rumor and believe her grandkids are witches, like in canon.

Fadette leaving town goes slightly different, with the real reason being her grandmother needing medical treatment and the engagement scandal adding more stress on her and her brother. The siblings move to the city in order to find stable jobs, however, the grandmother passes away and leaves the kids a large sum of money.

Sylvinet will have more screentime and aside from his crush on Fadette weakening after seeing her in love with his brother, he is struggling to figure out who he is. He will tell his brother the truth before he leaves for the military and it will be heartbreaking.

The ending will be a happy one, while Fadette and Landrete marry with the villagers supporting them (the witch rumor has been cleared), Sylvinet has found love once again with a nurse during his time in the military, and he intends to court her.

Here’s a continuation series that keeps Captain Planet’s heart intact while leveling up the elemental side with Avatar-style bending discipline and Ninjago-style spinjitzu/elemental forms—and lets Wheeler actually grow up enough to put a ring on it.

Basically, Dib kinda… gives up trying to prove Zim is an alien. He ends up growing up, getting married, having children, and taking over his father’s business while being a part-time cryptozoologist.

Now, Zim is still out there, mind you. And at some point, Dib ropes his partner and kids into hunting Zim down once more - his family obviously being on his side.

Dunno what’s gonna happen with Gaz (maybe she works in a gaming company?), but she will still be there.

And we’d get a lot more GIR moments!

So I was watching DuckBrick’s video about the challenges that Lego faces regarding bringing back Bionicle, and I had a thought as to how they could throw out the lore while still being connected - the series would occur PRIOR to the cataclysm that broke Spherus Magna

Given how the first generation provided no explicit information on what their society was like, there’s lots of room to play around with.

Furthermore, being Pre-calamity provides a convinient in-universe explanation for why they look different - a Watsonian justification for the Doyalist explanation of Old Molds Got Thrown Out.

My mental image is of a TV show akin to the Clone Wars animated series; while we knew how everything would fundamentally end, that didn’t stop us from getting invested in the smaller conflicts.

As for actual plot? The overarching plot of everything would tie into Climate Change, and how the actions of people/groups accelerate the pace at which it happens. In addition, you’d have episodes where they’d have to deal with the disasters, while it drains the resources we could (in theory) focus on fixing the big issue it’s not something people would tolerate. I can even see potential for episodes dealing with Identity, as their Genders are LITERALLY an artificial distinction.

The one thing that would connect to Generation 1 (and possibly even Generation 2) would involve the Mask of Time - it would be responsible for characters, most notably Tahu & Vakama in the original, getting Visions.

We know from the novels that Primordial Masks like the Mask of Time & Mask of Life are more self aware than most. (Tahu gets the Mask of Time to Vanish, never to be seen again, by telling it “begone”) so it would be perfectly feasible for it to be involved somehow.

Good evening everybody. As of recently, I had begun reminiscing about the Flintstones. More specifically, the grand finale movie: Hollyrock-a-bye Baby. I bought off of Amazon and watched it from start to finish. Needless to say, I loved every minute of it. The point I'm trying to get at is: what ever happened to the new Rubble family after that? More specifically: Chip and Roxy Rubble?

If there was ever a time to launch a reboot, it would be now. So my idea for a reboot would a Flintstones series centered around Chip and Roxy Rubble with their parents Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm as supporting characters. It would be in a manner similar to the Pebbles & Bamm-Bamm Show from back in the 70's with just a hint of Flintstones Kids & Regular Show mixed in for good measure. Maybe even feature a callback to the original Flintstone/Rubble gang who've probably long since passed away by now; especially Pearl Slaghoople.

The first half of the season or so could feature the kids growing up in a prehistoric version of the 90's since that's when they were born and the other half would feature them as teens/young adults leading up to the present day. Who knows, maybe they'll start families of their own. It would put them in the same positions their parents were in at the movie's end; life really is a cycle people.

I mean Supernatural had 15 seasons; so surely this show would be worthy of such a feat. It would be interesting to see how the new Rubble family's life is like post Hollyrock-a-bye Baby. Not to mention see Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm as senior citizens, given that the former's 61st birthday was a couple months ago this year.

I get that Warner Brothers wanted to do something similar to this back in the day, but scrapped it for whatever reason. I kinda get it: life's a never-ending cycle and this had to stop somewhere. Even so, now seems as good a time as ever to launch a series about the next generation of Flintstones/Rubbles. If not, it would make a great idea for a fanfic series if anyone else is willing to take that on.

Okay so I've been in an off-and-on kick the last 2 weeks watching old 80s cartoon intros, episodes of Galaxy High on YouTube, and generally remembering shows like Batman TAS, Darkwing Duck, Ducktales, Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers, and Talespin. Yup. I was an 80s/90s cartoons kid.

Well, watching Galaxy High suddenly made me realize how ripe that particular show is for a Futurama-styled reboot. If anything it's kind of Futurama's predecessor.

The original story is Doyle the jock and Aimee the brain kid get to be exchange students to this interstellar high school (Galaxy High) set up on the fictional asteroid of Fluto. Well it's very fantasy-style but also has that fun 80s sci-fi grunge vibe with aliens who aren't remotely human mixed in with humanoid aliens and Jetsons-styled wackiness.

Well, I keep getting ideas of how one could start a reboot. Below the cut for length.
