How would Dark! Overwatch men act holding their long awaited baby for the first time. Son or daughter, your choice.
Mâlord, theeeeeeese were supposed to headcanooooooooooons!!
Jesse wouldnât stop asking questions and pacing the entire time you were in labor; the doctor almost threw him out. Luckily, the delivery went off without a hitch, your screaming daughter joining the world after one final push. The nurses were quick to wrap her pink blanket and hand her over to you.
She had a mess of brown hair sitting atop her head already, courtesy of her father, her eyes wide as she took in her surroundings.
Even though he was right next to you, Jesse hadnât said a peep since she was born, and you only remembered he was there when you heard his breath catch in his throat as their eyes locked onto each other. Although you were hesitant, you turned to him and asked if he would like to hold her.
That seemed to snap him out of his daze, and he swallowed thickly before nodding. As much as you disliked him for what heâd done to you, even you couldnât help find his nervousness adorable.
You hand her over to him, and he gently cradles her with his metal arm, his other hand runs a finger gently along her red puffy face. She instinctively reaches out to grab it and succeeds, quickly bringing up to her mouth to try and suckle, only to start crying when nothing gave.
âSheâs the prettiest damn thing Iâve ever seen,â he says, voice slightly cracking, when she wriggles in his hold, letting out angry snorts. He chuckles softly at her, and she responds by tightening the grip on his finger. âHm, sheâs strong too.â
He rocks her for a bit, but she seemed insistent on trying to milk his finger as she moved it to her mouth again. âHungry little fella, ainât ya?â
âShe gets that from you,â you tease while he hands you back to her so she could feed.
âYa did such a good job, darlinâ,â he says, petting the brunette child in your arms.
You respond with a hum and a nod, wincing when she latched on and quickly bit down, âOw!â
âThough I gotta say,â Jesse said, smiling as he ran a thumb along her chubby cheeks, âIt was so much fun making this one, I canât wait to start on the rest.â
Though no one could tell it from the serene look on his face as he let you hold his hand through another contraction, Hanzo Shimada was a nervous wreck. It as if the newest member of the Shimada clan was all too eager to send him to an early grave when your water broke two weeks early.
You tried to breathe through the contractions, remembering the labor classes Hanzo had made you take, but it barely felt like it was working. Tossing your head back, you gave one last push, and before you knew it, Kosuke entered the world. He was quiet, only letting out a small wail before the doctor gave him to the nurses.
Finally letting go of Hanzoâs hand, he stood and walked over to the nurses to observe them, saying nothing as they called out his vitals and measurements. You almost felt sorry for them as you took this time to let yourself relax after the doctor cleaned you up.
At one point, Kosuke did let out a tiny grunt when they turned him over, and you couldnât help the small giggle that escaped when Hanzo shot them a glare. You smiled as the nurses handed him over to you; Hanzo at her heels, watching her every moment.
âWould you like to hold him?â you asked, patting the spot next to you. He took the invitation and sat down; his body turned towards yours.
âYou did an exceptional job, pet,â Hanzo said while taking the child, his arm glowing blue, announcing the appearance of the dragons. They quickly swirl around Kosuke, making their assessment of him and chittering among one another.
Kosuke is silent as he watches them and even tries to reach out to grab them. Fortunately, theyâre too quick for him, and his face scrunches in displeasure. Slowly, his silence is replaced by whimpers as they continue to evade him, and soon his tiny hands are balled into little fists, before letting out a loud wail.
The dragons quickly panic at the sounds of his screams and disappear back into Hanzoâs arm, making the two of you deal with the aftermath. Hanzo tries to shush him and rocks to calm him down, but itâs no use. However, you let another laugh escape while watching Hanzoâs brow scrunched up in worry at your son.
His eyes are quick to meet yours, and the displeasure at your reaction is evident in his voice as he speaks, âWhatâs so funny?â
âItâs just that the two of you make the same face when youâre upset,â you say, watching Kosuke turn even more of a beet color while screaming. You hold out your arms to take him. Â
The comment makes him smile, and itâs hard for your heart not to skip a beat as you look at him. Once Kosuke is back in your arms, his cries stop almost immediately as you smile down at him.
âHeâs so perfect,â you whisper as you place a kiss on his forehead. And to you he was. Kosuke was completely worth the hell that Hanzo had put you through for all those months. He was more than you could have ever asked for.
âYou know, with Kosuke here, at least I wonât be so lonely when youâre out for business,â you say, turning to Hanzo only to see that heâs no longer looking at the two of you. Instead, heâs looking to the side, his bottom lip caught between his teeth. Youâve never seen him like this before, and it worries you slightly. Placing a hand on his you ask, âIs everything alright?â
He clears his throat before speaking, dark eyes locking onto yours. âItâs nothing, pet,â he says, squeezing your hand before pulling it away to cup your face. âI was just thinking on how good of a mother youâll be.â
You smile back and lean into his touch. Hanzo rewards you with another smile before leaning down to take your lips in a kiss. Itâs gradual at first until his tongue swipes along the seam of your mouth, demanding entrance. You obediently open for him, and he groans when your tongue slips into his instead. His hand moves to the back of your head and pulls you deeper into the kiss.
Suddenly, a sharp cry rang out, and the two of you are reminded of the fussy child in your arms. You reluctantly pulled away first and looked down towards Kosuke, leaving Hanzo to lick the remaining taste of you off his lips before joining the two of you as well.
A sad smile crosses his face as he watched you nurse him. Knowing full well that once you left the hospital, Kosuke would be taken from you. Still, he said nothing. Opting to enjoy the only small bought of happiness that you would have until you gave him another child.
âItâs okay, jefe,â McCree said when he heard the Blackwatch Commander let out another huff in annoyance. âSheâll be fine. Good oldâ Angelaâs in charge of her.â
The delivery had gotten complicated, and Angela had made anyone who didnât have a medical degree leave the room. Gabriel had been extremely reluctant to go until you assured him for the thousandth time that youâd be okay.
Since then, heâd spent the last 10 minutes pacing outside the door of the delivery room, only stopping whenever heâd hear you scream from inside. He couldnât help but think how similar it sounded whenever youâd beg him to stop, and if he wasnât so worried, he might have felt guilty.
Gabriel grew even more impatient as the seconds ticked, eventually getting tired of Jesse's constant reassurances, ordering him to go down to the cafeteria and get him some coffee instead. Jesse let out a heavy sigh and obliged him, putting on his hat as he walked away, leaving his boss to pace some more.
Soon after, the sounds of a screaming child echoed in the other room, and Gabriel stopped in his tracks. He held his breath, heart beating loudly in his ears as he turned towards the door. It felt like an eternity passed before Angela opened the door, greeting him with a smile.
âCongratulations, Gabriel,â she said stepping back to let him in. âItâs a girl!â
He exhaled loudly before his face broke out into a huge grin. Even though heâd just been pacing the floor non-stop, his feet still felt like lead as he walked into the room. Even laying there covered in sweat, face flushed from the delivery, you managed to smile at him as he slowly approached.
He didnât deserve you, he thought. After, everything that heâd put you through and what he would put you through, you still managed to smile for him.
Finally, he reached your bedside and crouched beside you. âEsta bella,â he said, swallowing as his daughter's dark eyes stared at him. âShe looks just like you.â
âShe has your eyes though,â you say, smiling as she loudly yawns before returning to squirming her eyes out of the blanket. âWould you like to hold her?â you suddenly ask, catching Gabriel off guard.
He nods in return and holds out his arms as you pass her over. She whimpers and pouts as soon as sheâs exchanged, not at all liking being passed around.
âShh. Youâre okay, cielito,â Gabriel coos, smiling down while she continues pouting. âSheâs got some fire in her.â
âHm,â you say, wincing as you reposition yourself. The drugs must be wearing off because suddenly you begin to feel more pain than before. âShe gets that from you.â
He doesnât bother to look at you when he responds; eyes transfixed on his pride and joy. âYouâre with me, cariĂąo. I think she gets that resilience from you.â
Your smile disappears almost as quickly as the medication in your system when he says that. His soft Spanish phrases fade into the background when you realize that now youâre stuck with him as if you werenât before.
He turns to you just in time to watch you wipe away a tear. His features turn from happy to concern in seconds, and he takes a seat next to you. âQue te pasa?â he asks while rocking your child.
Sniffling, you shake your head and answer, âNothing.â He reaches out and places a hand on your thigh, squeezing tightly. You hold back a whimper. âItâs nothing bad. Itâs just-just tears of happiness.â Satisfied with your response, he broke into a smile again, and a dark cloud that you hadnât even realized was there lifted.
Swallowing loudly, you placed your small hand over his large one, your thumb rubbing circles over his dark skin. Â âI was just thinking about how weâre a real family now,â you say, looking at your daughter, and laughed as she made a small screeching noise before sucking on her hand.
âI guess sheâs hungry,â Gabriel says as he hands her back to you, watching with interest as you pull your robe down to feed her.
Suddenly, he pulled you both against him into a hug a tight hug, making you freeze in place. He placed kisses up and down your head, murmuring words of praises and silent thanks in between before pulling away to rest his forehead and against yours.
âYouâre right, mi alma. We are a real family now.â
