my favorite thing about the “we deserve each other” phrase in the context of the couples in Wicked is that in act 1 it’s meant as a positive thing for the characters but in act 2 it’s meant as negative for them. when Glinda says “you deserve each other” to Fiyero and Elphaba in act 2, she means it as an insult because she’s upset that Fiyero is in love with Elphaba and chose her instead of Glinda, as opposed to in act 1 when her and Fiyero were singing “we deserve each other” as in they thought the images they both had were perfect for their own/people think they would work well together. when Nessa sings “we deserve each other” to Boq in act 1, she’s happy he asked her to the dance/she’s happy she has a chance at love and she becomes crazy about Boq. but then in act 2, when she sings “alone and loveless here, with just the girl in the mirror, just her and me, the wicked witch of the east” she’s now talking about herself. she’s talking about how because of what she’s done, she believes she deserves to lose everyone in her life and end up alone + unloved and she believes she deserves the title of “The Wicked Witch of the East.” she means it as an insult towards herself, as opposed to when she meant it as a compliment to Boq in act 1.

Always love it when bots literally partially transform together while interfacing, of seams opening up to meet the edges of new seams and wires plug into one another, and from an outside perspective it is SUCH an eldritch experience
