Willful Ignorance/Voting
Imagine you were sitting on a park bench, when suddenly you see a man walk up to another man and attempt to rob him. It is time to make a decision. You could employ the John Mulaney approach of,
"I was over on the bench."
However, seeing that man being robbed and purposefully deciding not to intervene makes you complicit in that man's robbery. Now, I'm not disparaging John over a comedy show, but the underlying point remains true. We can't stand around and expect something to happen, we must take charge.
This belief is why we must take action in regards to politics. We can not stand by idly and watch our democracy fall before our very eyes. Swing state voters, and seemingly perpetually red states have started to see this reality. They have begun to elect democratic officals in states where it would seem impossible. We must continue to fight corrupt politicians like Jim Jordan, Devin Nunes, Lindsay Graham, Rudy Giuliani, and the ringleader himself Trump.
The Senate impeachment vote will be a day that goes down in history. A day that either marks every corrupt senator, or a day that our democracy stood strong against the threat of tyrannicism. I hope for the latter, however if the corrupt senators feel like ousting themselves then it is up to us to vote them out in the next election. We must do what is in the best interest of the country. Do not let Russia have the last laugh.
