Whether you’re on a fall sports team, don’t have a ride home or you’re not looking for a Parents & Family Weekend part two, wlulex has you covered when it comes to Reading Days activities.

1. Bring a Group Apple Picking

Apple picking is on everyone’s fall bucket list. So why not check that off this weekend? Virginia Gold Orchard, Seaman’s Orchard and Morris Orchard are great local destinations all within an hour from campus. Pack your car with a group or just a few friends, and spend the day outside. All three locations are open daily in the morning to late afternoon. Pick a variety of fresh foods from berries, to pears, apples, and pumpkins.

2. Try out Lexington’s Newest Mini-Golf

Did you know Lexington has its very own mini-golf? Neither did we! Lex Lynx Mini-Golf opened its doors this September. This indoor, premier 18-hole mini-golf course is located right in town...less than a 10-minute walk from campus. Challenge your friends and don't forget to ask about Lex Lynx’s new twist on mini-golf: the “dirty eagle.”

3. Volunteer for an Afternoon

Bored of binge-watching and secretly looking for a productive weekend? Spend Reading Days with the Rockbridge Area Habitat for Humanity building and repairing homes. Shifts run Thursday through Saturday in the mornings and afternoons. See the full schedule here.

4. Get “Locked in” With Your Friends

Also new to the Lexington area is Locked In, an escape-room experience. Test your problem solving and detective skills in three different escape-room simulations: Area 51, the Murder Mystery Room and the Prison Break Room. Are you up to the challenge?

5. Eat Your Way Through Lexington

What’s better than grabbing a meal at one of Lexington’s fabulous restaurants? How about visiting all of them in one afternoon! Lexington Food Tours run Thursdays through Sundays and feature a wide variety of tours in town. Check out the Downtown Food & Cultural Tour for the best local food and some insight into what makes Lexington unique. Over 21? Craft Beer Tours and Blue Ridge Winery Tours are offered all weekend.
