Just got to the part of Nona where they’re trying to pass Nona off as Harrow for Ianthe, and, like. Neither Cam nor Palamedes was there on the Mithraeum so there’s no way for them to know the full extent of the difficulty of this task but dear God can you imagine having to be Harrowhark Nonagesimus in a conversation with Ianthe Tridentarius, when your acting experience can be summed up to “struggled to pretend to talk on a make-believe hand radio one time”??  ianthe n harrow slept in the same bed and spent months hatefully (and in harrow’s case semi-unwillingly) flirting through experimental surgery and bodily mutilation like i feel like you could study the dynamic those 2 had going on for years and still be unable to capture the right blend of utterly bizarre toxic homoeroticism. Nona got a haircut and a 5 minute crash course in ‘Harrowhark’ that basically amounted to “stand up straight, don’t giggle, give everyone in the vicinity your best death glare and say as few words as possible”. what was she supposed to do if Ianthe, like, stabbed her out of nowhere and expected her to be into it. what then.
