im like 40 pages in or something and holy christ house of leaves is not like any other book ive ever read. i understand why people say its not really even a book now. its really doesnt read like fiction at all, it feels like im reading a slightly deranged mans rambling and most of the time uesless annotations of another, slightly deranged man's excessive analysis of a documentary ive never seen. which IS what it is, for the most part. truant's stream of consciousness paragraph-sentences are so hard for me to read i have to break them down into pieces just to follow him. its certainly a book i dont think i could read without making annotations of my own (which is a fascinating additional layer of abstraction to navidson's fake-but-also-real experiences)
Love you, goodnight!
*Slams fist onto table*
I am the fucking whumper around here! Not my brain. Me! I whump and I am sick and tired of being whumped by a wrinkly sack of meat!

Thinkinâ about something else, too, re: dragon age.
One of my college writing professors once said that itâs perfectly normal to immediately get defensive when someone disagrees with or critiques your writing. Thatâs normal, thatâs human.
Itâs how you respond to it after youâve had a chance to cool down that matters.
I feel like a lot of creators are really prone to doubling down on or completely erasing their mistakes, and like⌠I understand why you feel the need to do that, but mistakes are just a sign that youâre growing, or that you hadnât thought about something fully, or even that you didnât have the full context to have a better informed opinion on something.
Just because someone says âhey I think youâre wrong about thisâ doesnât mean theyâre mean spirited or whatever, and if someone approaches you in bad faith with a shitty attitude, you donât have to pay them as much mind⌠just donât throw the baby out with the bath water.
Dragon Age dealt with a lot of really heavy questions and themes. Thatâs why the discussion was the way it was. Itâs not necessarily bad thing or a series ruiner, *as evidenced by the people who were huge fans who still pointed out the racism and misogyny and such that was present in the games*. We werenât rescinding our fandom because the authors didnât have a perfect take 100% of the time.
In fact, trying to make art that does have perfect takes 100% of the time is IMPOSSIBLE.
I love my friends
