He arrived at the Starkâs not long after. To his surprise his friends were already there, working with Pepper on the details of their upcoming event. He joined them, forgetting about what happened with his aunt.
âPeter, dear,â Pepper started. âWould you please go ask Tony if he even wants to invite the Rogerâs to this?â
Peter nodded and got up. He journeyed down to the lab.
The rock music playing was loud and Tony was off in a corner staring at something, Peter wasnât sure.
âHey Mr. Stark,â he called over the music.
Tony jumped slightly and turned towards Peter. âJARVIS,â was all he had to say and the music was turning down. He ran a hand through his hair. âWhatâs up, Pete?â
âMrs. Stark wants to know if you want the Rogerâs coming to the fundraiser?â
Tonyâs nose scrunched. âGod no.â
Peter nodded and was about to go back upstairs but now he could see what Tony had been staring at. âIs that a custom build yourself computer?â
Tony looked back at the machine again. âYeah⌠was just about to toss it. Itâs been collecting dust since Connor was 8⌠only kept it in case he decided he wanted to actually work on it.â
Peter frowned and stepped closer to the older man. âUm, mind if I ask why he didnât?â
A shrug was the response Tony gave. âHe opened it and left it. Never had any interest in things I did. Wanted nothing to do with the business or inventing. Couldnât even build his own computer.â
âIf youâre just going to get rid of it⌠do um⌠do you think I could maybeâŚâ
Tony arched a brow at him. âYou know how to?â
Peter nodded, âI always wanted one, but the extent Iâve gotten was old stuff from the garbageâŚâ
âHave at it,â Tony said, patting Peterâs shoulder. âWant some help?â
âSure!â Peter said excitedly, never in his wildest imagination did he ever think heâd get to work with Mr. Stark on something like this.
Hours went by, Tony helping Peter along the way. It was fun for both of them.
The difficulty was the best part, Peter loved it. âConnor was lucky to have a dad like you,â he hadnât meant to say it aloud, but he did and he immediately felt bad seeing Mr. Starkâs demeanor change.
He shrugged. âI think heâd beg to differ.â
âI dunno,â Peter said. âAt least you were here for him if he needed you⌠itâs not the same when your parents died when you were little and you had to go live with your aunt and uncle. Donât get me wrong, I loved them for doing that⌠but now itâs just me and my aunt and⌠she doesnât always get it, ya know?â
Tony nodded slowly. âYouâre a good kid, Peter.â
He shrugged. âAnd youâre a great dad.â
Tony pat Peterâs shoulder. âWe can pick up tomorrow.â He left Peter without another word.

Summary: Your friend sets you up with her friend, but what happens when you start to like this handsome guy that delivers to your job?
A/N: I feel like I havenât posted in 800 years. This isnât great but I just needed to write SOMETHING.
The look on your face should have told your best friend that you were done with her pestering. Once again she was mentioning some guy she wanted to set you up with.
âCome on, heâs a great guy,â MJ stated to you once again.
âMary Jane,â you started. âIâm not going on a blind date, with anyone. Itâs not my thing. Iâd rather meet someone on my own and make a connection. Not feel obligated to like the person because you set us up. This is the last time I want to hear anything about this. Iâm sick of it!â
She sighed, âWill you talk to him at least? Just text. You never know you might like him. I think you will at least. Plus then if you donât like him you donât have to worry about hurting his feelings to his face.â She reached over and grabbed your phone. Immediately she texted her friend.
You reached out for your phone but she kept it out of reach, and being in a cafe you knew better than to leap over the table at her. When she handed it back the message was sent.
âHey Peter, itâs MJ. This is my friend Y/Ns number sheâd really like to get to know you so donât screw this up!â
You groaned. âDammit M, what the hell!â
âYou wonât regret talking to him, I promise.â
Shaking your head you set your phone down. âFine.â You didnât tell her you were interested in someone, it would just end in too many questions that you didnât even have the answers to.
It was a few hours later when you finally heard back from him. It was a simple âHi Y/Nâ
âHeyâ you responded. Then followed up with âsorry about MJ. You donât have to talk to meâ
Peter frowned to himself. He really did want to. MJ really knew how to talk you up. You sounded really sweet and cool. Even if you two just ended up as friends. âIf you want me to leave you alone I will, but I wouldnât mind getting to know you. Itâs not like we have take it any further than that if you donât want to.â
You debated his words. He had a good point. âAlright, I can manage that.â
And that was how it started. You became fast friends, only after about a month you wanted to meet and he always managed to get out of it somehow. It was rather a turn off.
Peter didnât exactly want to miss the few times you tried to meet up with him. He was just busy. It wasnât easy neglecting people that needed his help. It also wasnât easy when he had packages to deliver to pay his bills.
You were really developing a crush on the delivery guy that came to your work. He was perfect. Curly brown hair and brown eyes. A nice build and he was always so sweet to you.
And God, since that first day he came in and left with a wink at you, you were hooked.
As much as Peter liked you, and while he wasnât much of a flirt, there was a beautiful young lady that worked at one of the places he delivers to. When she bat her eyelashes at him he couldnât stop himself from winking at her as he left.
That was the routine. Youâd small chat with the man every time he was in. He flirted with you in subtle ways.
Only every time he left you thought of Peter. Frankly, you did find yourself liking him, a lot. He was sweet and really seemed to care about you. If only heâd meet you. You want to know if things would work between you if you were more than friends.
But getting ditched all the time was not something you wanted to happen. And if he was like that now, what was to say it wouldnât be that way if you did start to date?
So that morning you texted him âLets meet up friday night, please?â
Peter responded a few hours later, right before his delivery to your work. âYeah, Iâd like that.â He really would, but only because he had a feeling in his gut that you might actually like him and if that was true he wanted to break things to you easily. You might be perfect, but suddenly this new woman heâd met, well she was wonderful. And it wasnât a set up like how it was with you because of MJ.
âFriday night at 7? We can get dinner.â
âSounds goodâ he put his phone away before walking into your job.
You smiled warmly at him. âHey,â you greeted.
âHey,â he said setting a package down on the counter. âListen, are you free this weekend at all? Iâd really like to take you out. If thatâs okay I meanâŚâ
Your face flushed but you nodded. âYeah, not friday night but saturday for sure.â
Peter smiled wide, he offered his hand to you. âPeter,â he introduced, youâd been referring to him by his last name since that was what was printed on his shirt.
âY/N,â you replied, a thought of how strange that was popped into your head but you knew there were plenty of people in the world with the name Peter so it was probably just a coincidence. And since it couldnât be that he was really the other, at least if things didnât work between you and MJâs Peter, you would get to go out with this Peter, and at least you knew he liked you too.
The thought also swept through Peterâs head, but it couldnât be right. He pushed it aside, but he if it turned out you were MJâs Y/N, well then it turned out to be a win win.
The two of you made plans before he left.
You werenât exactly sure how you were hoping things would turn out, but you hoped they would end up for the better.
When friday night finally rolled around you were nervous. You texted Peter, itâd been an entire day since youâd heard from him. Frankly, you were surprised he even answered you when he did.
âHey! Sorry Iâve been awol. Workâs been really busy and Iâve been running around too. I will be there in 10 minutes!â
You sighed to yourself, you were hoping he wouldnât stand you up, again. You werenât going to be that girl that got ditched at her table at a restaurant when you could have just said no and maybe been out with your delivery guy Peter right now.
Peter dropped down behind the restaurant and quickly changed out of his suit into some nicer jeans and a collared shirt. He shoved his suit in his bag and webbed it to a wall. He jogged up to the front of the small restaurant and went in. He realized he didnât know who he was looking for so he gave your name to the hostess and she brought him off into the place. The second he spotted you he almost laughed to himself. He couldnât really believe it.
You were too busy texting M.J. that you hadnât noticed he was there until he sat down. When you glanced up you were surprised and a little embarrassed. âOh my God.â
âWe must really meant to be together if we managed to get set up two different ways,â Peter joked.
âI canât believe this. This isnât some joke right? Like you didnât know it was me did you?â You asked. âBecause I had no idea it was you and I feel a little shitty right now, for kind of being interested in someone that I didnât know was you, if Iâm being honest.â
Peter thought your words over. âWell I didnât know you were the same you. I canât say I didnât have interest in either of you,â he put in air quotes. âBut Iâm kind of relieved youâre the same person because your personality is incredible, youâre funny and sweet and you are the most beautiful person I have ever met.â
You blushed deeply, âare you just trying to butter me up because we both kind of screwed up?â
He offered a small smile at you. âNo, Iâm saying it because itâs true and I hope that this little screw up we had can be looked at as a good thing. To me it just says it was meant to be. Iâd really like to date you.â
âI guess youâre kind of right,â you agreed. âYou sure about that? You donât have any other prospective girls waiting to go on a date with you, do you?â
He chuckled. âApparently I like you so much I liked you twice.â
You smiled gently and let out a soft chuckle. âSame goes for me⌠but one thing, if weâre gonna do this can you just promise not to make plans with me if you arenât going to follow through? Itâs kind of hard trusting someone when your first few dates you were ditched.â
Peter rubbed the back of his neck. âI am really sorry about that. I canât really promise that I wonât screw up but I want you to know Iâm going to work my ass off to make sure I donât hurt you. Because I want this to work.â
âGood, so do I,â you said, reaching across the table and intertwining your fingers with his.
He smiled and gave your hand a gentle squeeze.
20 years later you still laughed about how you got together.
Request from Anon: Omg could you write something where May is practically begging Peter to ask Stark!reader to prom or homecoming (because sheâs homeschooled and doesnât get those opportunities) but heâs a hundred percent sure she hates him but itâs the complete opposite?
A/N: Hey sorry if this isnât great, Iâm really trying to start writing again and itâs difficult with how busy I am now.
âNo way, May! I canât. Itâs not happening.â Peterâs voice was higher than normal, clearly upset with what his aunt was suggesting.
âPlease Peter, Iâm sure she would love it. You know sheâs not getting the same experiences as you.â May argued, sheâd win this if it killed her.
âSo?â Peter asked, âThatâs not my fault, itâs Mr. Starkâs! I shouldnât have to take someone that obviously hates me to my senior prom.â
May tisked, âShe does not. Youâre being dramatic.â
âNo Iâm not! Besides, she probably wouldnât even say yes to me asking her! Iâm not going to embarrass myself.â
âPeter Benjamin Parker,â May reached across their kitchen table and placed her hand on his arm. âWe all know you have feelings for her. Just give it a shot, please? I missed my senior prom and regret it terribly. I donât want Y/N to miss her chance too.â
Peter hated when his aunt pulled his full name. Hated even more when she guilted him, he couldnât say no now. He sighed heavily. âAlright⌠but if she says no itâs not my fault and know Iâm never going to be able to show my face at the tower ever again.â
May smiled excitedly, âThank you.â
/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/
âSo your aunt tells me youâre asking Y/N to go to prom with you,â Tony said, just as Peter entered the lab.
Peter groaned, âAunt May told you?â
âYes she told me. Iâm the one who suggested it.â
He could only stare at Tony in shock. âWhat?â
âI went to 23 promâs Peter, they were a blast. Iâm not gonna let my kid miss out on something like that just because I have her home schooled. Plus everyone knows you like her take the chance kid.â
âI canât believe youâre the one that set me up for this humiliation.â
Tony shrugged, âi think youâd be surprised. Now go get it over with.â
âN-now?â Peter asked, a wave of nerves washed over his gut, he was not ready to face you in the slightest.
âWhy not? Youâre promâs only two weeks away.â
âUh- well- I-â
âWhat are you stuttering over this time spider?â You had just entered the lab and Peter was fumbling over his words. You loved hearing him nervous, it was adorable, not that youâd ever tell him that. He thought you hated him, which definitely made him not like you. But really you just got nervous and didnât know how to flirt so you ended up being mean.
Peter sighed, then turned to face you.
âI have to go take a phone call in private,â your dad informed, heading out past you.
âI thought you had to talk to me about something!â You called to his back, exasperated with him.
He ignored you.
Rolling your eyes you turned to leave Peter, figuring he probably wouldnât want you around anyway.
âHey, wait,â Peter started quickly. He knew this was a set up. Heâd be mad at Tony later, right now he knew he had to get this over with.
You stopped, something about the situation you were in seemed suspicious and made your stomach knot. Turning back to look at him you cocked your head. âYeah?â
âOkay, I feel real stupid for asking but I donât really have a choice in the matter and Iâm sure youâll say no anyway but would you wanna go with me to my prom?â He said it so quickly all you really heard was him asking you to prom.
You were stunned, but also excited. âYeah of course I will.â
âOkay thatâs totally alrig- wait did you just say yes?â Peter thought you were going to say no, so much so he almost didnât pay attention to your real answer. So when you confirmed that you would he was real surprised.
âYou were really ready for me to say no there,â you pointed out, the feeling that maybe he didnât want you there to begin with floated through your mind.
âWell I wasnât sure youâd want to go to a dance, where you donât know anybody, just to go.â He rubbed the back of his neck, keeping the thought of you hating him hidden.
âYouâll be there,â you said simply. You could have argued with him, ask him if he even wanted you to go. Tell him he better not just have asked to take Tony Starkâs daughter to his prom to show off. Or maybe that your dad put him up to it. But instead you turned and left him there in the lab. Immediately going to your room to act like the giddy teenager that just got asked to prom by the guy you like, like you were.

When the day finally came Peter was nervous and dreading it. He was hoping to have fun tonight, but now he was going to be worrying about not pissing you off and not being embarrassed by jerks at school. He definitely didnât think he was going to have fun. You were probably going to be mean to him. What reason did you have not to be. He was just your way in. Youâd probably end up with someone else for all he knew!
But, when he arrived to pick you up he pushed everything aside. He couldnât help but focus on how beautiful you looked. Your dress fit you in all the right places. Your hair was perfect and so was your makeup.
Seeing the look on his face made you blush. You went over to him and punched his arm. âStop staring. Is that for me?â
âS-sorry,â he apologized quickly, his eyes darting away. He held out a corsage to you.
âYeah,â he answered simply.
âAlright you two,â Tony said entering the living room. âI promised May I would take some pictures of you two. So get together and smile youâre gonna have a great night.â
The two of you did as Tony said, wide smiles spread across both your faces just after you put the flower on your wrist and his corsage on his jacket.
You grabbed Peterâs wrist, âBye dad!â You called from the elevator. You were ready to get to this dance. While you were nervous about tonight not being good, you were very excited to go to a prom.
The ride down was quiet, the limo that your dad had rented for the two of you was awkwardly quiet, and you thought Peter was just going to act like you werenât there all night. So, you stopped him before getting out of the car.
âPeter,â He finally looked at you, and he could tell you were nervous, you could see it on his face. âLook, I know Iâm hard to get along with but⌠if you donât want me here Iâm not going to bother embarrassing myself by going in there and being ditchedâŚâ
He frowned at you, the concern in your eyes making him feel awful about not even letting you take a chance to be nice. âIâd never ditch you, Y/N. And I never said I didnât want you here.â
âWell face it Peter, you were ready for me to say no, you mentioned not having a choice which says to me that you were forced to ask me whether by my dad or your aunt I guess it doesnât really matter. You obviously donât want me to be here with you, so why donât you go have a great time and the driver and I will come back to pick you up later. Howâs that sound?â You couldnât even look at him as you spoke. You werenât sure why it was suddenly spilling from your lips. It hurt though.
Peter stared at you. He really felt bad now. He took a deep breath. âListen, youâre going in there with me. Iâm sorry Iâve made you feel that way but you hate me, who's to say you wonât be the one ditching me tonight? Yeah, I asked because my aunt made me ask you. And you know, I probably wouldnât be mean back to you if you werenât mean to me first. Itâs hard to like someone thatâs mean to you all the time. But here I like you anyway and I asked you even though I thought youâd say no. And now I just donât get you at all. Even more than before.â He huffed and put his head back against the seat.
âI like you too,â you said it, your voice so shy he almost didnât believe you were the one saying it.
His head snapped to look at you.
You glanced at him wearily. âIâm sorry Iâm mean⌠I donât try to be⌠I just canât help it okay? I donât exactly have any experience with liking someone. It scares me. And I donât exactly have a perfect role model for relationships. I just end up being mean and Iâm sorry. I donât mean to. I like you a lot and it made me so happy that you asked me to come with you tonight.â
Peter sighed then offered you his hand. âIâm beyond willing to try this if you promise youâll work on not being so mean all the time.â
You slid your hand into his, âI promise.â
He smiled, kissed your hand, and the two of you finally got out of the car.
It was an amazing night, you couldnât have asked for a better one.
Part 1, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7, Part 8, Part 9, Part 10, Part 11, Part 12, Part 13, Part 14 - End
You were surprised when you heard someone knocking on your door, but when you opened it your were surprised to see the slightly panicked look on Peterâs face. You frowned at him, hoping he wasnât coming to tell you he couldnât do it. âHey, Peter, everything okay?â You asked.
He hadnât even thought about it when you asked him, he was too hung up on his own problems. He didnât think about something that could potentially be a problem for him. âI have a problem,â he stated, rubbing the back of his neck.
You were frowning at him now. âPlease donât tell me you canât goâŚâ
âWhat?â He asked, casting a confused look at you. âNo, I um⌠I just donât have anything nice to wear to a wedding⌠Iâve never been to one and I definitely havenât been to anything nice enough that a button up shirt and a pair of old black pants couldnât get me throughâŚâ
You sighed in relief. âOh thank God. I thought I was screwed for a second there.â
He was still frowning, and he felt bad for having to break this to you. âI-I mean⌠you still kind of are⌠I donât have the money to be able to get something like that right nowâŚâ
You frowned at him, having the passing thought as to why he was going to a place like MIT if he couldnât afford a proper suit. Then you remembered he was on full scholarship. You reached behind your door for your purse and keys. âIâm not letting this small fixable problem take down my plans. Letâs go, the mall should still be open.â
âW-what?â He asked, stepping back as you exited your apartment.
You turned to look at him. âWeâre going to go get you a tux silly.â
âY/N, no I-I canât let you do that,â he said, following after you as you started down the stairs.
âItâs really the least I can do,â You told him.
âAt least let me pay you back over time or something.â He suggested, he did not want you to be paying for things for him.
You shrugged. âMaybe,â you teased, getting into your car.
Peter sighed, giving in. He knew arguing with you about it probably wouldnât end up well.
So, the two of you journeyed to the mall and went into the nicer department store. You found someone that could help you and they took Peter off to try some things on.
You were so surprised when he came out of the dressing room. You always thought Peter was cute, but man did his jeans, sweaters and hoodies not do him justice. You were honestly a little bit shell shocked.
âIs it okay?â He finally asked, he wasnât sure since heâd never had to wear one before. He knew nothing about the etiquette of wearing a tux.
The tux fit him perfectly and you were glad you wouldnât have to get rush alterations on it. You nodded. âYou clean up well, Parker.â
He rubbed at the back of his neck. âThanks,â he said, turning back to go get out of it, really just trying to hide his blush. He also didnât want to accidentally ruin it.
When he returned you next went to find him shoes, then a bow tie that would match your favorite color dress. Finally, when you were done shopping you went to pay for it. You had hoped the cashier wouldnât say the words, but the second she said, âAre you renting the tux or purchasing?â
âIâll be buying it, thank you,â You answered.
âWait, why donât you just rent it?â He asked.
âBecause, youâll use it again and itâs my money. Iâm not letting you pay me back for it either. Every guy needs to have one, itâs a pretty essential part of a wardrobe.â You told him, handing the woman your card.
You signed the receipt when you were handed it then handed Peter the dressing bag. You took the other one with his shoes.
Peter felt like he was going to be sick. He caught sight of the amount as the woman put the receipt in the bag. He was going to be paying you back for the next 4 years with how expensive it was. âY/N, seriously,â he started on you as you made your way out of the store.
âPeter, really itâs the least I could do. Just, accept okay?â You asked, you didnât want him to be upset about this, you really didnât mind. You enjoyed doing things like this for people.
He didnât answer, nor stop frowning the entire way back to your building.
When you made it back you put the car in park and looked at him. âPlease donât be upset about this all weekend, itâs going to be long enough and I donât know what Iâll do if youâre upset the whole timeâŚâ
Peter sighed. âSorry, I just⌠I feel badâŚâ
âYouâre doing me a giant favor Peter, if anything Iâll never be able to repay you, as far as I see it buying that tux is part of this deal. Even though I would have done it anyway had I known you didnât have one, besides the point though. Iâm asking you to go to this with me. Of course I should pay for something you need in order to do it. Please⌠if it bothers you that much Iâll take it and donate it after the weddingâs over. But I want you to have it.â
He sighed, running a hand through his hair. âAre you sure itâs okay?â
You smiled, and took his hand. âIâm positive,â you said, giving his hand a small squeeze.
âAlright,â he said, giving in. He wasnât going to think about it anymore. The last thing he wanted to do was ruin your weekend.
You squeezed his hand again before getting out of the car. He followed after you and thanked you once again before going into his apartment. He couldnât get the thought of how much he liked your hand in his out of his head.
