“You look really tired.” [If you don't mind.]
Jaune jerked awake at his older sister’s voice. The next thing he knew he was falling on the floor with a heavy thump. His eyes shot around blearily, trying to make sense of what was going on while he was scrambling up off the ground.
His chair was on the ground and tipped on it’s side in front of the small work desk in his room. Oh, he most have dozed off while he was studying beacon on his scroll… Oh shit. His acceptance letter was right there, out in the open where Lumera could see it. His family couldn’t learn of that before he was already in class, or his parents would stop him from attending, as they had stopped him from attending Signal. He’d been so careful, making sure it had always been him to collect the mail each morning so they’d never know, but now the dream he’d worked so hard on was a hair’s breadth from being taken away…
“Oh, uh, hey Lumera!” He said, finally turning to meet his sister’s gaze with panicked eyes. “I was just playing around on my scroll. Must have dozed off! I didn’t know you were coming back for a visit, or I would have waited up for you.”
He went for a hug, hoping she wouldn’t notice the papers still sprawled out over his desk. It’s not like he could clear them up without making it obvious now. He could only hope his fall was enough of a distraction to keep her from paying attention to them.
