#Coffeeshoptour Maru coffee in Los Feliz #coffee I love stuff with simplicity aesthetics, and it is certainly spirit for Maru coffee. Maru coffee is quite popular among my Instagram coffee friends, and I wanted to go there since I saw it opened. Right when entering the shop, the full front glass make the shop bright, welcoming, and all walls are white, chair, coffee tables are made of wood. The choice of ceramic mugs make it special as well. It is not a big shop, not many seats in the shop. As the design is simple, the bar is fully equipped. Synesso espresso machine, Mazzer grinder, EK43, and the Kalita wave series for the pourover. I had a chance to be there last November for a very short visit, ordered couple drinks in 20min. Had cortado, like always, and also had pourover with Kalita. They have beans from Stereoscope (Buena Park), Ceremony, Sweet Bloom. It's really a nice coffeeshop fit the local culture around the area. It used to be only Gelato Bar at the same place, the Los Feliz area now has quite some good coffeeshops, like Go get em tiger, Bru Coffee Bar, H Coffee House etc. Years ago, when I was hunting for apartments in LA, I really considered Los Feliz. However, fish represent what's left in the year. (by the same pronunciation in mandarin.) Which means, at the end of the year, the family still have abundant resource left in the house and not lacking anything. That's definitely a good sign! But I will visit the coffee house when I have chance. It was in October, I went to Dallas area, and visited Redefined Coffee House in Grapevine, TX. It's a little historical town north of DFW. I love how the coffee house looks like a living room, I mean a Texas version, that not only they have sofa, they also have a fireplace (decorated). The seats are comfortable, and also the we been served with great hospitality, and did I mention great coffee? They serve coffee from AVOCA Coffee Roasters, and Novel Coffee Roasters. Open Tunnel #Kamakura #Tavel #Japan #‎鎌倉 #観光 #日本 While walking towards Tsurugaoka Hachimangū where they have the big budda. I passed through this open tunnel, this near the street of Kamakura. The arch design of the tunnel, and the design choice of making it open at the top is awesome. The light shine down from the top at the different time of the day. In the last day of my trip in Japan. Rather than go to the Tokyo area for all the modern and fashion scene, I decided to go for the sub-urban city Kamakura for a different kind of sightseeing. Kamakura is in the south side of Tokyo, if you are travel from place around Shibuya, there is express train send you from Tokyo to Kamakura area in about 30min. As I stayed in Yokohama area, it is even shorter distance, about 20min by local train. Kamakura is an old town, and it has many historical shrines in the city. as there's hills, also near the beach, the scenery is quite nice. It is It is very popular tourist spot for Tokyo/Japanese people to do short day/weekend trips. It was my second time visit this city, last time was about 10 years ago. Through the 10 years, Tokyo changed a lot, but Kamakura is almost not changed. The streets, the roads, even some shops and restaurant reminds for decades. http://flic.kr/p/yTyDNu

It just caught my eye that the atmosphere was well captured, and bring me back to the place on that day as I remembered. Though its a little bit far for me, I will definitely want to go visit them someday :) Lavender and Honey is not on the popular side of Pasadena (not near Old town, Colorado street), but on the more quiet side, about 5min north of Colorado st. It is a very nice, quiet neighborhood. It is actually a very good part of LA, kind of in the center of LA, and on the quiet side. If I had a house in LA, this would be the neighborhood I would consider, and couple of my friends live near there. Besides coffee/drinks, LH also has toast, sandwiches, and salad. It is a nice place to be at, especially when drop off the busy highway, and avoid the crowd at Colorado st, it is a good place not so far and could enjoy some relaxed time. http://flic.kr/p/q8zgAN
