Summary: Â Matt couldn't think of the right words to tell Jeremy about the whole feelings thing. Â So, he decided to not use words.

Now, thereâs been plenty of interesting things that Jeremy has witnessed. Â Heâs fought a dragon in the void and everything. Â But he could honestly say that was the first time he saw what was essentially a mound of netherrack with legs.
Looking at the legs, he recognized the boots as Mattâs. Â So either this thing stole his friendâs shoes, or itâs just Matt carrying a comically large amount of netherrack. Â Which, honestly, is pretty easy to figure out. Â âHey,â Jeremy called out.
The mound stopped on its path and rotated towards him, as if anybody could see anything through all that. Â âOh, hey!â Â Yup. Â Just regular olâ Matt.
Walking up to him, Jeremy sighed dramatically. Â âYâknow, I figured it was just you, but I was also kinda hoping it was some weird new monster.â
Careful not to drop anything, Matt tried to only laugh a little. Â âNah, Iâm just working on some stuff.â
Really, anything that warranted carrying around netherrack in such large amounts at once was probably going to be pretty interesting. Â âWhat kind of stuff?â
âDonât⌠ Donât worry about it, itâs a surprise.â
âCâmon, Matt, youâve known me for ages, I wonât tell anybody.â
He started leaning as if to try looking Jeremy in the eye somehow, then decided against it as the weight of the whole mess shifted with him. Â âLook, I swear youâll be the first to see it.â
âYou mean after you make sure Geoff thinks itâs good, right?â
âNo, I mean youâre gonna be the first one I let see this.â Â Matt shuffled his feet for a moment. Â âIâd shake on it, but if I let go of all this, Iâll probably suffocate.â
Jeremy blinked for a second and stepped out of Mattâs previous path. Â âIâll take your word for it.â

Geoff looked up and down the corridor again. Â âYeah, looks great.â
Matt tried wiping his hands on his pants, but remembered he was wearing gloves and decided to suffer. Â âReally?â
He gave Matt a good pat on the back. Â âDude, you always do an awesome job. Â Of course it looks good.â
âAw, thanks, man.â  Slightly hurried, Matt starting glancing up to the position of the sun and back to Geoff.  âSo⌠is that about everything?â
âWhat, you in a hurry?â
Matt stiffened slightly. Â âWhat hurry- I mean, what makes you think Iâm in a hurry?â
Geoff took a step back and took a good look at Matt. Â âUh, everything?â
Thatâs fair.  âLook, just⌠ Just donât tell anybody anything, alright?â
Raising his eyebrows a little, he leaned in closer to Matt. Â âYeah, I wonât, I promise.â
âGreat.â Â Without missing a beat, Matt only turned around and ran the other direction.
âWha-â Â By the time Geoff had a sentence put together in his head, he was already alone. Â â... Well, how am I supposed to accidentally spill all your secrets now?â
-
Jeremy had just closed his door for the night when he heard knocking. Â â... What?â Â Cracking open the door, he peeked through. Â âOh, hey Matt. Â Whatâs up?â
The surrounding torches were just bright enough for the redstone grounded into Mattâs cheeks to not give away how nervous he was. Â âI, uh, wanted to show you something Iâve been working on.â
Opening the door wider, Jeremyâs eyes widened a little, too. Â âIs it that new building Geoff wanted?â
âNo, no, this is, uh⌠ A personal project.â  Matt clasped his hands together.  âAnd it looks a lot better at night, soâŚâ
He rubbed his eyes and stepped back out to join Matt on the edge of the logo. Â âSure, dude, lead the way.â
âAwesome!â  Just before turning around to head towards this mystery build, for just a moment, Matt looked⌠giddy?
Luckily for Jeremyâs sleepy self, that didnât exactly translate into walking fast.  âSooo⌠ What can you tell me about this mystery build?â
âWell, I can tell you that telling you it looks cool at night was already too much.â
âOverly complicated way to set off fireworks. Â Gotcha.â
âNope! Â No. Â Definitely not.â
A good laugh was just what Jeremy needed to wake himself back up enough for this walk. Â âSo-â
âDonât just guess more, dude, weâre almost there.â
âAlright, alright.â
After a couple more minutes, Jeremy nearly ran into Matt when he stopped abruptly. Â âHere it is.â
Leaning past Matt, Jeremy mostly just saw some weird blocks jutting out across the ocean, seemingly in random placements.  Glancing up and around, though, he noticed more sticking up into the air.  âOkay, so⌠ What is it?â
Spinning around, Matt offered a hand to Jeremy. Â âYou kinda have to walk through it to see.â
After Jeremy took his hand, Matt started walking backwards, leading him into the center of the formation. Â It looked practiced, but Jeremy noticed him trying so hard to not look to see where heâs going. Â âHey, uh, if youâre nervous, you can just show me another time-â
âNo, no, Iâm fine. Â Check this shit out.â Â A few more steps, and Mattâs boot landed on a tripwire. Â A click, and a click, and some of the blocks around them set on fire, the orange light complimenting Mattâs red.
â... So this is what all that netherrack was for?â
âTold you not to worry about it.â
They laughed, and as they laughed they started walking again. Â More and more of the structure was set ablaze, every few steps after every few steps, until Matt stopped just before a pressure plate at the end of the walkway. Â And then, they stood. Â Jeremy let go of Mattâs hand to look around at all the lights around them, while Matt carefully watched his (joyful) expression.
Jeremy faced Matt again. Â âDude, this is awesome!â
Matt brought a hand up to fidget with the edge of his hood. Â âIâve been trying to figure this thing out for a while, honestly.â
âYou did amazing.â  Looking around again, Jeremy noticed something.  âHey, doesnât this seem⌠heart-shaped?â
âUh⌠what makes you say that?â
âWell, hearts are pretty recognizable I think. Â So itâs kinda hard to accidentally make one, too.â
Mattâs fidgeting hand moved to pull his hood to cover his face a little, although it didnât make much difference due to his cheeks very literally glowing.  âI, uh, see where youâreâŚâ  Rather than finishing his sentence, he turned 90° left and stepped down into the water.
Grasping one of his hands, Jeremy kept him from fully stepping off the platform. Â âDude.â
He let his weight shift to the foot in the water, only looking back slightly when this made the stitches throughout Jeremyâs arm start tearing loose. Â âWhat?â
âItâs alright, Matt, get back up here.â
â... No.â
âDude, really, itâs cool.â Â Matt stopped leaning away so much and turned his head to better see Jeremy. Â âHonestly, I kinda hope itâs supposed to be a heart.â
Stepping back onto the walkway, Matt fully faced Jeremy again. Â âYou do?â
Taking Mattâs other hand now, Jeremy looked into his eyes. Â âWell, yeah. Â Not sure if youâve noticed, but I kinda love you.â
âWait, really?â
He gave Mattâs hands a gentle squeeze. Â âYeah, I do.â
Still not looking away, Matt pressed a foot down on the pressure plate behind him.  And soon after, a dozen fireworks shot into the air above them.  âI⌠I love you too, man.â
Jeremy watched them with just as much awe as he watched the fires, before he started to laugh. Â âSo it really was complicated fireworks, huh?â
Matt wrapped his arms around Jeremyâs shoulders and pulled him close. Â âShut up, dude.â
-
Considering how excited he was, Matt was kind of surprised with how well he slept. Â And he knew he was very well rested, because when he heard knocking on his door, he wasnât annoyed by it in the slightest.
âIâll give you those directions in just a sec, Ge-â Â As Matt opened his door, he instead saw Jeremy. Â âOh, shit, hey!â
âHi! Â I didnât wake you up, did I?â
âI was just about to get up anyway, dude. Â Whatâs up?â
Jeremy shuffled his feet a little.  âSo, I wanna do something cool for you, tooâŚâ
âWhich you absolutely donât have to.â
âIâm going to, shut up.  But, uhâŚâ  He brought his hands out from behind his back, revealing a massive bundle of wildflowers.  âThis is all I have time for right now.â
Matt looked between all the colors of the flowers and Jeremyâs smile, and suddenly felt hyper-aware of how much he must look like heâd just woken up. Â âOh, gods, thanks, man.â Â Gently taking the flowers in one hand, he tried to brush his hair with the other. Â âYou wanna come inside for a bit? Â Itâs way too early right now.â
âYeah, absolutely!â Â Awkwardly tiptoeing, Jeremy slipped past Matt, careful not to knock the flowers out of his hand. Â He looked around the room and gave a soft sigh. Â âI really donât come here often enough, do I?â
âWell, I mean⌠ Iâm hoping last night made it clear enough for me, but you can come over anytime.â  The two looked into each otherâs eyes for quite a bit, until Matt coughed and turned towards a bench along his wall.  âUh, here, have a seat.â
âThanks,â Jeremy said as he sat down. Â Waiting for Matt to join him, he started to laugh. Â âOh, gods, everyoneâs gonna be so confused once they find that.â
He smirked a little as he set the flowers down gently on the bench beside him. Â âDonât worry, Iâll rig it with explosions by the time you guys get back-â
Quickly moving from casually sitting to being bolt upright, Jeremy pointed at Matt. Â âDonât you dare, Matthew!â Â Slowly lowering his hand, he did the most blush-adjacent thing a zombie could manage. Â âItâs really great.â
Matt blinked his surprise away and smiled. Â âYou got it.â
