I was rereading published content to check against what I'm working on, and if it still makes sense, and in the process discovered a variety of inconsistencies that I think I just forgot to edit and address.

For example, I explicitly mention re:1 is in winter, just before and during winter break. If thats the case, then in re:2, since it takes place in summer of the next year, then Zim and Gaz wouldve been dating for over a year. Zim, and I, your humble dipshit author, explicitly mention they haven't yet had their 1 year anniversary. How does that work?

Also, I change how long Gaz hasn't seen Dib for multiple times. I found 5 months, 10 months, over a year etc.

So for anyone who cares what revisions and retconning are gonna look like, it's as follows:

Re:1 will be adjusted to take place before/during SPRING break, not winter. If you really need a month, think April-ish. This really doesn't matter at all for anything other than fixing these time discrepancies.

Dib and Zim, as mentioned, still graduate early. This will make more sense now, as Zim and Dib are offered early graduation, presumably around May, and means Dib was only around a month or so before disappearing. Let's say for clarity's sake he left shortly after his and Zim's early graduation, in June 2024

Gaz will not have seen Dib since June 2024

As re:2 starts a year-ish later, the fic starts May-ish 2025

Zim and Gaz will have passed their one-year anniversary without celebrating it, due to Gaz hiding it, as Zim mentions she does in the first chapter of the fic regarding missed-milestone anniversaries. He still doesn't really care that much.

Gaz will, therefore, not have seen her brother in nearly a year. It has been 5 months, however, since he fully stopped responding to her messages.

I don't think I can write a Zim that is capable of being non-possessive of a partner. Like regardless of what circumstances led them to be together, Zim is a big jackass with a superiority complex, and if he's decided on a partner, he's decided. He can't be wrong, because he's magnificent and a genius and so of course his partner is perfect! And why would he ever let harm befall something he actively adores? He takes the time to clean Gir ffs, so of course he'd put the same love and care into preserving his romantic partner.

His reasoning is always some combination of obsessive, possessive, and desperate. In a world where Gaz isn't born just as effectively immortal as he is, he would 100% make it happen. How? He's not sure, but he's Zim, and if there's the will, he gets his way. I think the energy is less "you're not allowed to die," and more "the universe can try and take you from me if it dares."
