2. Does your OC have any nervous ticks or self-soothing habits?
When she's nervous she tends to fidget with her braid, or if her hair is down, she twirls locks of hair around her fingers again and again.
3. Let's say your OC got kidnapped. What would save them?
First of all, good luck to the one who would even try it. The girl knows the game more than anyone, and it's really hard for someone to approach her without she notices them. But on the eventuality it happens, good luck to keep her imprisoned. She's really good at solving puzzles and riddles and then she's really good at disappearing. So yeah... a kidnapping would be a failure before it even started.
4. If your OC has a love interest, are they opposite or rather similar?
In one way they are very similar. Both carry difficult pasts. They were both slaves, mistreated and used to someone else's benefit. So they both understand each others old scars, wounds and pain.
But in other hand they are quite different. Raven is a very low profile person, discrete, and she's very shy when confronted with her emotions, not to mention her wardrobe - the most monochromatic ever! And simple. And repetitive. Everything Astarion isn't 😂 poor girl suffers sometimes!
However, I think they compliment each other very well. Astarion gives her the chance to taste life in a very different way that she's used to, and Raven settles a slower pace, giving him the peace that he seeks.
5. Is there a story behind making your OCs? What inspired you?
When the idea of my story came up, I wanted to give Astarion the chance to prove that he's very good at taking care of people, despite him thinking he's not, because for me he truly is.
He understands pain more than anyone, and after learning that he can love and be loved I think he would find that he would be able to help others to find their way, just like Tav did with him.
That's when Raven was born. I needed a broken character, just like him, or even more.
I may have made them suffer a lot throughout their journey, but in the end I think they healed each other just like I intended.

raven lore part one — present day ,, slightly updated
this was previously a lil lore update from my oldest lore post (that is very out of date, but u can still read here if u wanna see !!) however, with raven's updated lore post which focuses mainly on her past, this one is closest to what I have of present day raven lore, so i simply removed/changed some parts to keep it inline with her current lore.
warnings : minor cowboy bebop spoilers for the end of the anime, simply because it links to part of raven's character.

I had taken the idea from the Terminator movie of machines taking over and destroying the world, onto her planet; slowly but surely becoming less and less habitable via the killing machines taking it over as their own — discussed properly here. But it felt almost wrong to just have her escape her planet just to explore the cosmos, so instead I decided to have her seek out the roots of why her planet, what is the purpose behind the killing machines and who is behind it all, but having little to no guidance as to where to even start due to leaving originally with no real plan of even doing this to care about gathering any info from her planet to remember.
I'm not sure who the 'who' is yet, but as far as I know, I don't want to make it the ipc, maybe I'll make it go deeper than just one person behind it all. the 'who' now links to the intellitrons of the machine empire, left over believers wiping out organic life — discussed properly with raven here.
It's not in the means of vengeance, more curiosity I'd say? To uncover the mystery of why all of those people she loved so dearly got taken away from her, and why it was her land chosen specifically as the one to be taken, and shut down the constant 'why' questions that she fears she'll never get an answer to.
Considering before all of her planets steady destruction she'd lost her parents as a kid, I feel like she wouldn't be seeking revenge for the lives lost but rather seeking reasons for their loss, needing to confront what had caused her past to be a tragedy to be able to accept such a heavy grief — especially after already working through the grief of her parents death. Working on a whim and gut feelings with the past constantly holding her back, a ghost that keeps pulling her away from properly embracing a new life despite essentially already being in one with having a lover (ravenhill/ashven).
That's more or a less a reference on Spike Spiegel from Cowboy Bebop, how just like spike, raven is unable to escape the trauma and grief of her tragic past (like spike with the red dragon syndicate), leading to walking through life like a dream, detached from the present of reality. only after julia's and then his own death was he able to walk out of that dream, much like how raven, finally being faced with the whole truth of her planets destruction would be able to leave hers. not through death, however.
She is still somewhat in the present, unlike spike, she's still able to have time where she is in the present and not a 'dream', but it'll still lurk around her regardless until she confronts it or finds answers, sometimes barely existing in her mind, other times taking over her mind and leading her onto the spiral of being unable to sit down and floating around the cosmos with little lead except that she wants to find a way out of this dream and confront it already. she's not a rash character, especially after 10 ae of existence and trauma, for present raven it's more of a emotional 'shut down'. her brain too overwhelmed with all the experiences and still little progress made, leading her to go on a spiral. she's an emotional character in both happy and sad directions, despite it being less visible now due to her having her guard up when connecting with new people, especially after being a lone wanderer in the cosmos since leaving the former astral express.
So it would be more a sequence of her escape, spending some time to explore as of means to try process what had happened but in her mind covering it up as simply wanting to venture to new planets like she dreamed of, realising she's unable to process it due to all of the gaps of knowledge and then seeks out to find the answers. Maybe that's not even from confronting what really caused it, maybe it's finding some random document holding all the info, maybe it's from overhearing it being discussed in public, but not strictly a mission to go out and kill what had caused it from a sense of malice and/or justice.
as for relationships and overall personality discussed further :
despite not being a ranger, she is close with boothill (ravenhill : dating, ashven : sibling bond) and rappa (sisterly bond), and ofc ashveil (ravenhill : a more 'older brother' way than 'father', but that's due to her own struggles with accepting almost a replacement for her dad, their bond does extend to a father-daughter one, simply not acknowledged. ashven : dating), she essentially sees the three rangers as her new found home/family, mainly boothill however, or ashveil in the ashven au.
personality and other relationship wise varies on past vs present due to trauma naturally changing her a bit, but for the most part in the present raven still can be pretty playful and enjoys teasing people more than ever but only those she's allowed herself to get close and comfortable with, otherwise she's quite closed off. 100% more on the mature side, like a mother almost. however she can also be much more shut-down, quiet, withdrawn and soft when things get too hard for her to carry for the time being (partially seen in this fic). Otherwise, she's overall a calm person, someone you can talk to or just sit in silence without it being awkward, she doesn't mind talking about her past or any experiences on her adventures as she loves talking and sharing things about herself and finding others who have similar experiences whether in trauma or adventure.
she often has her guard up and hesitance to meeting new people in fear of getting close and losing them, trying to push people away or trying to seem unapproachable for the sake not wanting people to communicate with her. Despite it all, she loves company, she loves being around people, animals and whatever other humanoid creatures she encounters, it's just the fear of closeness and loss that refuses her from fully letting herself experience it, fear of attaching herself to someone who she can so easily lose like she's lost others.

3. How do they carry themselves around strangers? Friends/lovers? Family?
Before Astarion, Raven couldn't care less about others. She always had been a lonely person, and what others thought about her didn't matter. Her reputation in the city, specially among the ones in high society was not that good, so no one liked her very much... but she didn't like them either so, she didn't care.
After Astarion, although she still didn't give a fuck what others thought about her, she wanted to be able to be free from their judgements and just forget the reasons why she was so hated.
Friends only came after meeting Astarion, being himself her lover and her best friend also, and she cherished them as if they were family. Only them knew her true self, and only with them was she able to feel as if all of her problems had never existed, allowing herself to laugh and have fun, allowing herself to be the girl she always dreamed of being...
As for family she only had her father, and he was everything for her. No one ever received so much kindness from Raven as her father did and she loved him more than anything else.
14. Does your character value promises? Are they good at keeping them?
Oh boy. Promises are mostly the core of Raven. She values them immensely. In her opinion, promises should be sacred, and all her life she sought for someone who didn't break them, which had proven to be a very hard deed. But even after the promises towards her had been broken over and over again she kept hers till the end, even if it meant suffering with it.
So yes, she was very good at keeping promises, and she would hold them until the end, expecting that one day she would find someone who would the same for her.
28. Why do they keep secrets?
Because she must. It was part of her job. She was a spy. A very good one. And she held secrets of so many people, having a few of herself too. However, none of this was her choice. She never wanted to be a spy, to gain forbidden knowledge about others, but life events forced her, and now she knew enough to start a war if she wanted.
42. Is there something your character isn't very good at, but enjoys doing nonetheless?
In the beginning, Raven never permitted herself to enjoy nothing. She was cold as ice and she couldn't let any warmth unfrozen her frozen heart so she could keep going. So no. There was nothing she had pleasure doing even if she wasn't good at it.
Later on, she opened up - Astarion's fault 🥰 - and started to savour simple things like singing, from time to time. She wasn't very good at it, but it didn't matter. By then, she didn't need to be perfect anymore, Astarion never expected her to be.
