Currently going through it™ while thinking about the differences between Cloud in remake and Cloud in rebirth. He's starting to smile. He's starting to depend more on his friends. He's still awkward as hell but he tries to go along with the jokes. He cares more. He's, dare I say, more hopeful. He's ever so slightly more open. He's more like a person. He's ruining my life.
I love that really what final fantasy IV boils down to is "there are two tragedies in life: one is to lose your heart's desire, the other is to gain it"
I finished ffiv and I'm a little sad :(
I hate him I hate him I hate him and his stupid mint hair and dead eyes, twink man bastard, pathetic and weak and sickly and insufferable and annoyingly know-it-all, him and his alchemy and science and research, dirty library rat with self preservation issues, lonely lonely man who ruins all of his relationships, too harsh of a teacher, constipated human, can barely speak of himself, useless until dead, I hate him I hate him for what he is and what he REPRESENTS.

I don't know man, I keep thinking about Joshua and how isolated he was when growing up and then later in life. I can't help but think about the fact that the only persistent and overbearing presence in his life was his mother. How he's simultaneously the golden child and the black sheep of the family. Bearer of the Phoenix, but too weak. Healer whilst having a very fragile health. How Anabella projected her own self hatred onto him ever since he was a child because they are just so similar, while still preaching about the fact that he was her most precious thing. Of how lonely after Phoenix gate his life must have been. Surrounded by people who worshipped him but did not know him as a person. His own family, or what's left of it, doesn't actually know him. Yes, Clive might have gotten the short end of the stick in many ways, but he had people that loved him for who he was- while Joshua, not really. Revered maybe, respect even, but not loved. True affection feels scarce in his life, which does make the relationship he has with his brother that much more painful, for sure.
I dunno man, he's such an interesting character.
I'm sorry I love them with all of my heart
