I did a little Ratthell for this one!

Love is ultimately selfish.Â
Wynneâs words burned, even as Athell tried to put them out of her mind.Â
Grey Wardens, she learned, had one purpose. To end the Blights, no matter the cost. It mattered little what would become of them after, as long as the Archdemon was slain.Â
Crawling into Rouratâs tent, Athell didnât know whether she would be able to pull through with Wynneâs request. Ending whatever began between them, to spare the pain that would follow them into the future, seemed too much, too cruel.Â
She shook her head again, taking a deep breath. Rourat was already asleep as she shucked off her boots and left them at the tentâs entrance. Changing of the watch allowed for small moments like this, where time seemed almost a standstill where she could count herself lucky.Â
Lucky to be alive. Lucky to be out of the Circle. Lucky to get into trouble with their small band of strangers held together by a Blight and a sense of duty.Â
It wouldnât be long before the Blight would be over, before they would scatter to the wind. Athell didnât know what would come after, if there was an after. They would have to survive first, finish recruiting Fereldenâs people against the Blight, and wake up the Arl of RedcliffeâŚÂ
There was still so much left for them to do.
âWhen this is over, we should travel.â She rested her chin on the top of his head, closing her eyes. âSomewhere away from Ferelden, just for a little while.â
Athell didnât mind being selfish, if it meant she could keep the peace she felt when she was with him.

I tried a little Ratthell for this prompt!

Athell was not the bravest among the wardens.Â
She ran from the circle after the Harrowing, not enough time for anyone to blink and miss her after Jowanâs blood magic antics struck the tower with fear.Â
But this was different. There was no running from the beats within her chest, or the breath inside her lungs that seemed to often leave her as of late when she sits with Rourat, leaving them to sit in the silence.Â
She didnât mind the quiet, of course, as it often were the case among their fellow wardens. The closer they were to completing their task of uniting Ferelden against the Blight, the more her mind wondered what will after make of them.Â
âThereâs something I should have told you about a long time ago, Rat.â Athell sat beside him, passing one of the warm mugs in her hands.Â
Early morning with only Wynne and a few others waking was enough time in her mind to get it over with, enough time to shake off the embarrassment that would no doubt follow.Â
âI enjoy our time together.â She lifted her mug to her lips, some coffee that Wynne managed to scrounge up for them during their last supply run. âAnd I find myself seeking you before anyone else⌠Strange, right?â
There was a pause, where she took a drink and sighed. âI suppose what I mean to say is that I like you. Quite a lot, in fact⌠And I was wondering if you⌠Feel the same.â
Silence again. Something in it shifted, as Rat scooted closer. Whatever it was, she understood that it was enough.

you might be thinking, well, surely you have a favorite. but the thing is its either i understand the dynamic in the ship and can write it or im playing with different ideas to find the dynamic.
athelliese- athell x anneliese is a dynamic and wonderful ship that myself and @thewardenisonthecase play around with because it just sort of happened that way. i love them to bits and pieces with their doomedness, which makes it all the more rewarding when they finally do end up being in a relationship.
athell x anneliese x alistair x zevran falls into the im still playing around with category. trying to figure out just how each of them fit together is fun and i already have a few ideas that make me want to bite my keyboard.
helian- lonan x helia (helia belonging to @fadeling) is a ship that is also in the still playing around with category. they are super cute to me and i adore their little obvious pining x oblivious thing that they have going on. it's cute to me and they deserve all the goodness and happiness im being so real.
ratthell- rat x athell (rat belonging to @sha-brytols) is also another still playing around with it. the brosca and surana backgrounds really lend itself to the "we're going to be experiencing the world together" vibes, and shared experiences like first snow just makes me want to vibrate into the sun.
