happy DADWC friday, sending you âiâm not gonna get much sleep tonight, am i?â for athell and anneliese
Happy Friday!! | @dadrunkwriting
Thank you for this prompt! It really came at a wonderful time and I knew I just had to write it tonight!
Words: 423
The fireplace crackled, a welcomed sound in the silence that had filled the room.Â
Anneliese had joined Athell in her bed, laying together as Annelieseâs fingers carded through Athellâs hair. It would be hard to sleep with her so near, Athell knew that simply from the nights they spent in one anotherâs tents so long ago.Â
âI am not getting much sleep tonight, am I?â
âNo..â Anneliese shook her head, running her fingers through the loose strands once more. âNot really. Four years in the Fade, I think you have been sleeping long enough.â
âAlright.â Athell sat up with a soft chuckle, turning her head towards Anneliese as light strands filtered through the warrior queenâs fingers. âWhat is it that youâre dragging me into?â
Anneliese had paused for a moment, brushing some hair away from Athellâs eyes in thought. There was a flicker in those green eyes, something that Athell couldnât pin down for the life of her.Â
âAthellâŠâ Annelieseâs hand found the back of Athellâs neck, firm and steady to hold her in place. âI donât want to drag you into anything⊠I would prefer to hold your hand and walk with you for a change.â
Athellâs brows slightly furrowed, eyes blinking as she searched for answers in Annelieseâs gaze.Â
âThatâs not what I meantââ
It was sudden, Annelieseâs fingers tightening in Athellâs hair as she was silenced with the crashing of their lips.
All the breath in Athellâs lungs had been stolen, her eyes closing to keep the room from spinning.Â
Athell made an attempt to pull away, shaking her head as she could barely think straight. âAnnelieseâŠâ
âDonât.â The word came out soft, softer than anything that Athell had heard before, âDonât run from me nowâŠâ
Athell blinked again, a sharp pain prickling its way to her heart. She had been so focused on her own feelings, on her own circumstances, that she hadnât considered just how hard it mustâve been for anyone else⊠Especially for Anneliese.
âI wonât.â Athell promised, reaching out and cupping Annelieseâs cheek. âI wouldnât dare run from you.â
Athell leaned in, kissing Anneliese back just to prove it. Soft, unbelievably so in comparison to the rest of her.Â
This⊠It had been the feeling Athell had spent years wondering what it was like. To be the one Anneliese had loved, even for a stolen moment.
Athell was pulled closer, trying not to fall clumsily into Annelieseâs lap.Â
It felt real, the war was finally over and she could finally liveâŠ
hap fri!! for athell, " To become god is the loneliest achievement of them all. "

Did a little Doomed Yuri for this one. And is the only one of the night <3

Skyhold had grown used to legends.
First, it had been Andrasteâs Herald who would close the breach in the sky and fight off an ancient magister who sought to rule the whole of Thedas. Then, it was the Champion of Kirkwall, who sided with the mages in the final hours, ringing out the first sparks of the mage rebellion across the south.Â
Now the gates opened for another.
A Grey Warden who ended the Fifth Blight and survived.
The whispers carried through the courtyard, reaching the war room before the Warden could clear the gate. Many of the refugees stood gathered, trying to catch a glimpse of the legend that walked amongst men. They expected something grand, banners announcing the arrival of someone so revered and stories that were told.Â
But Athell came with none.Â
She might have only given herself away wearing her Warden robes, a griffon clasped her cloak close as she slipped through the crowd. The Heraldâs soldiers made a berth for her, hoping the crowd would disperse enough to let her through.Â
âGrey Warden.â Josephine Montilyet greeted her before the main hall of the keep. âWelcome to Skyhold.â
âI understand that thereâs been word on where the rest of my order may be.â Athell nodded, removing the hood from over her head.Â
âYou would be correct.â Leliana emerged from the shadows, falling into step with them as they made their way through the hall. âIt is rumored that they are west, in Adamant Fortress.âÂ
Athell looked to Leliana, who had changed much since she had seen the bard last. Taking a long look at her friend, nostalgia brimming at the surface as flashes of loud singing around a campfire echoed in her mind. For a moment, it pulled through her vision, dragging her back to when the only thing that would separate them was the Blight and an Archdemon. Back to a time where the lulling song wasnât so loud, milling around her memories to lure her home.
âHow is it?â Lelianaâs voice pulled Athell back to the stone grandeur of Skyhold, chill returning to the air.Â
âIt is tame, for now.â Athell nodded, her hand tightening around her staff as they continued through a side room. The false Calling was easier to ignore once she crossed into the Frostback Mountains, but beforehandâŠ
Leliana, expression grim as her eyes examined Athell, gave a slight tilt of her head. There was the same concern in her eyes as Anneliese had when Athell left, the same that had been in Hawkeâs, in Zevranâs. Concern that began to pull the gravity of their current world-ending situation to a fine point.
âLetâs hope this Calling ends swiftly with our next battle.â
Athell chuckled softly, âWe shall see.âÂ
From what she gathered, Corypheus was in search of godhood. With the aid of what looked like a blighted dragon no less.Â
âAnd here I thought being a legend was hard.â Athell mulled over the map, looking at the markers on the table as her fingers lingered around Dragonâs Peak. âLonely sort of ambition⊠To want to be a god.â
Godhood, a notion that felled many a legend before their time. The Tevinter magisters had attempted it once, creating the Blight that haunts the land, and one has returned to do it yet again.Â
Foolish, Athell thought as her eyes flicked from Dragonâs Peak to Adamant. It seemed she was getting further and further away from home, missing the quiet she once had before getting involved in such a mess.Â
âYou should rest before we part.â Leliana leaned, trying to catch Athellâs attention. Or at least, that is what Athell had assumed.Â
There wasnât much time for hesitation, Adamant Fortress had awaited them.

Happy Friday! â youâre important to me, you little shit. â for Athell Surana and Jowan. idk if it's in character for her but it's a very Jowan-coded insult
Happy Friday! | @dadrunkwriting
A little on the short side (a growing trend for me at the moment), but I liked it and it's got me thinking about Athell's and Jowan's friendship more so thank you for that!
Words: 124
âRun.âÂ
She opened the cell door, without as much regard for what her companions thought. Jowan had been a friend, the reason she was a Grey Warden now. And she couldnât bear the sight of him like this, left to die while the castle above was overrun with ghoul-like creatures.
âYou canât possibly think that heâll make it out there.âÂ
âI donât care.â Athell snapped, not taking her eyes off Jowan. âYou run. Donât let the templars catch you.â
âWhy?â Jowanâs voice cracked as the small party turned for the stairs.Â
âYouâre important to me, even though youâve been a little shit since we met.â Athell glanced over her shoulder. âThereâs nothing more that I can do for you. Running is your only option.â
