Eddie straightens in his seat. “What does that mean?”

All four wince as a young man taps the microphone onstage.

“Testing, testing,” he jokes. “Welcome to the Cruisin’ Couples Trivia Tournament!”

The patrons around them cheer. Eddie digs his nails into Buck’s skin harsh enough to make him wince.

“Oh,” he breathes. “This is for couples.”

or: After getting dumped, Buck is left with two tickets to a weeklong cruise. Eddie steps in to support a friend in need, but complications arise when his friend becomes his fake husband. All's fair in love, war, and trivia.

With some coercion, Buck allows Maddie to set him up on a date. Surprisingly, the date goes well — and it keeps his mind off the unnamable feelings he’s been studiously ignoring for his best friend. 

Until Christopher’s science report on gentoo penguins — no, seriously — sets off a series of events that has him somehow spending more time at the Diazes’ side, and he feels like he’s going just a little bit insane trying to juggle a burgeoning relationship, his jealousy over Eddie’s own new relationship with Ana, and his inability to move on from the place that’s been his for three years in the Diazes’ lives.

Oh, and Eddie keeps looking at him like he has something to say — except he never says it.

This is the tumultuous road to finding out what Buck truly wants, paved by pebbles.

Eddie's PTSD is just that little bit worse and when he moves to Los Angeles, instead of joining the LAFD, he joins dispatch. 

Which is all good and fine, except for this one firefighter he keeps ending up talking to.

When Buck buys a Powerball lottery ticket he doesn't think much beyond his need for change to air up his tire. He forgets all about the ticket until word spreads that the winning ticket was sold in LA and hasn't been claimed yet and pretty much dismisses it. After all, there's no way he won the lottery.

Turns out no, he really did win the Powerball, to the tune of 295 million dollars and just in time for Christmas. He's going to make sure the 118 has the best Christmas of their lives. And just maybe he'll have a good one too.

Really, it was Lena’s fault. She’d been the one to demand a video when Eddie had finally caved and sent an SOS to the group chat asking if anyone was willing to trade.

“Is anyone interested in trading jerseys with me? Preferably for a smaller size,” Eddie had said because knowing his coworkers, one of them would’ve been a smart ass and gave him an even bigger size. “I ordered an XL because I’m usually a XL but… the way it fits makes me look like I’m fucking one of the players.”

Eddie wasn't trying to go viral. He just wanted to trade his jersey. But then something called Booktok got involved.

He saw what Tommy must have seen, Buck who was so obviously jealous of them. Buck who always defaulted to Eddie’s side. Buck who asked Tommy to move in despite wanting Eddie to go to the stupid basketball game with him a few hours earlier.

Shane invites him to come and stay with him and his wife, and while in Aus, Buck learns how to feed a joey, makes friends with chickens, and when a bushfire rages nearby, he steps up to the fight. The 118 have no idea, until they see Buck's face on international news coverage of the fire.
