When I'm talking back to him and agreeing, I can't help but think I agreed to him doing some damageā¦ Like unrolling the entire roll of paper, playing in the garbage, or eating the cat's food. My kid has more than enough toys. I know the hype of Christmas is all marketing - just like the DeBeers ploy in the 1940s to convince men 6 months of pay was what they should spend on a diamond. Yet, I can't help but have excessive mom guilt that I couldn't get him 500 new toys, a stack of gifts for everyone on my list, and spoil my ever so deserving husband.

Tonight I stayed up to work knowing my son would be my alarm to go to bed. After all, he's woken up at 11, 1, and 3 nearly every night for well over a week, possibly two because of teething. But no. Not tonight. 2:30am and not a peep. After the thought of "My husband is going to KILL me!" The thought "Why, tonight of allllllll nights, does my son stay asleepā¦" Because of the Mom Rule. That's why. *Mom Rule: whatever you want or need to happen with your kids, the exact opposite will commence.

I used to be super embarrassed to go to the store or anywhere public without putting on make up and fixing my hair. I'm still embarrassed by it, but now it's more along the lines of "Have I showered this week? Did I brush my teeth this morning? Am I wearing a braā¦?" And then I think about how I need to get back home to do any number of the mom duties and the thought flies out of my brain like the most recent adult conversation I've had.
