Ryou's definitely read 'Dracula' before, and could probably ramble about it for hours if he had to, but Bakura's never read it before so this is his first time.

Can I be so honest? Idk if anyone else agrees or not but I'm absolutely devastated that Etoiles doesn't do romance rp (Tbc I respect it I'm not trying to disrespect his boundaries) because I personally think him and !Foolish would've been powerful. Their 1 on 1 convos. !Etoiles swearing to protect !Foolish. Foolish going out of his way to help Etoiles get armor and a weapon so he enjoys playing. Him asking in chat for Etoiles to get 1 life back because he was afk. Etoiles saying "other lovers" like???

This past week I've been thinking about problematic ships and I remembered this anonymous message I got sent by someone calling me a hypocrite for liking some problematic ships but not liking Klaroline (Klaus/Caroline from TVD for those who don't watch), and at the time I had no patience for it so I ended up just deleting the message. Now I wish I'd kept it so I could really respond to them, but whoever they are, hopefully they see this.

Okay, for this I am going to set aside the fact that I am a major Tyler/Caroline shipper, a pairing that Klaroline derailed in the canon of the show. I am going to set aside that bias, as hard as it is because I will forever be bitter over how that bullshit played out. But I will set it aside and say that even without that aspect, I still hate the pairing more than other problematic pairings and it really boils down to two key factors: presentation and fanbase.

And yes, many problematic ships have problematic fans, like Seth/Kate (cherry pie? seriously?) and Ward/Skye, who romanticize things that don't make sense. Now I'm not really going to talk about the latter ship because I actually bailed on that show after the pilot. I just had no interest in it so all of my knowledge of the show comes from small recaps and gifsets. However, I will comment on how it had probably one of the best reaction scenes between a villain and the girl he's in love with, which was "I'm gonna throw up." (P.S. thanks for reblogging that one Scorp) I LOVE that. I love that the villain confesses that he has real genuine feelings for this girl and instead of it affecting her in a more positive manner, it actually makes her response WORSE.

Now onto Seth/Kate, which is one I do ship because of the movie which then translated over to the show, but I will admit it is not a healthy relationship at all. Kidnapping aside, Seth is also a shithead like his brother. Don't get me wrong, they're entertaining complex shitheads and acted very well by DJ and Zane respectively, but they are total shitheads, especially Seth, which I know is saying something since Richie is the more...unbalanced one, but Seth is literally a five year old at time. I mean you see character posts making jokes about characters being five years old, but in Seth's and Richie's case it's true, especially Seth, like how he lashes out at people around him to make himself feel better (like in episode 6). Which is something Klaus does.

And now onto that, since that is the topic at hand. Here's the thing also. Before that ship actually started forming on the show, I saw a couple of little manips of fic for it and thought 'oh this could be interesting'. But then it started on the show, and it completely ignored the problems with the pairing. One of the biggest examples came from the first episode, where Klaus uses Tyler's sirebond to make him bite Caroline so he can go and heal her with blood after giving her this big bullshit speech about birthdays, and people on the internet were calling the scene so romantic while also denouncing Tyler for attacking Caroline. And that was when I knew this was going to be a fucking nightmare. And it was, no matter how the show still treated Klaus like an antagonist, they kept pushing this pairing because the people into it would not shut up about it on twitter, talking about how romantic and epic it was, and even Julie Plec called it 'sweet'...

Back to the fanbases for a moment. Now I don't go into the Peter/Lydia tag from Teen Wolf much, but I do reblog some things and have had conversations and as far as my personal knowledge goes, most of them embrace that the pairing is a dark messed up ship except in extreme AUs. Skyeward and Seth/Kate is a little different since you do have fans who see problems with it but you also have ones who over romanticize it. But then you have Klaroline, where even though some realize the problematic nature of the pairing, the ones who don't are the most vocal. Remember in season 4 when Klaus stabbed Caroline with a lamp and fed on her? These are the people who said she provoked him and that she got what she deserved. These are the people who harassed Michael Trevino and Leah Pipes on Twitter, the ones who harassed Candice when she stated she didn't like the pairing. These are the people who sent death threats to Candice's fiance and any girl dating Joseph Morgan. These are the people who drove Phoebe Tonkin off Twitter, even after getting what they wanted.

Which they did, in the end they had Caroline and Klaus sleep together, after Klaus had terrorized them for almost a year, wanted to abduct Elena and use her as a walking blood bag, enslaved what were basically a bunch of teenagers who he then brutally murdered, drowned Tyler's mother in a fountain, basically broke Tyler to the point that when he had a chance to be with Caroline, he couldn't even do that because his hatred for Klaus outmatched any other feelings he had. And then the fucking narrative tried to make Tyler seem like the bad guy for overreacting.
