Jimmy is... something. That's for sure. Everybody in Oasis Springs knows Jimmy or at least heard of him. Or about his blog "The Earth is McFlatt".

Jimmy lives a peculiar lifestyle. His cabin in Bedrock Strait looks like he handcrafted it himself - which he obviously did. Can't trust nobody - he says. He prefers to stay off the grid, but neighbors swear they can see the computer screen shining through the window of his wooden bungalow. And there is also that satellite dish he tried to hide in the bushes... It's better to stay away from his place, really, not that Jimmy likes any visitors.

Before becoming a writer Jimmy lived from nectar making, a little source of income and happiness. His juice was good, but oh boy, the stories he had to tell - they were even better. That's how he suddenly got his first real job with a paycheck. His boss accidentally overheard him talking to himself about the mind controlling aliens, Sixam planet and abductions by flying saucers. Jimmy's stories were so awesome that he offered him a position of a blogger to write all of that down, share with people and make money off of it!

Reluctant at first, Jimmy agreed to the offer and that's how "The Earth is McFlatt" began. Sims all over the SIMNation just LOVED it.

Sudden popularity didn't change Jimmy much. He still lives in his old cabin, making nectar in the basement, researching and writing at nights. He didn't regret it for a single moment though and was inspired by his readers to open a club of like-minded Sims and together expose the alien conspiration. Now that even the Oasis Spring's Daily wrote an article about it the candidates for Jimmy's newest endeavor will for sure be queuing at the Sandtrap Den bar.

Jimmy is ready to add some spice and drama to your game. You can play with him and explore his story further or make him a new, interesting Not-So Random Townie for your Sims to meet.

He has multiple outfits, job, likes and dislikes, extra traits and skills etc. related to his lifestyle to give him some deeper personality.

Unfortunately, the Clubs settings doesn't get saved together with a Sim who is a club leader, so Jimmy will be clubless in your game. You can ignore it, create one based on the picture below or follow your own idea.

Jimmy is the first official resident of Bedrock Strait, OS, in my save file, but you can have him in your game too.

I think festivals in TS4 are generally a really nice feature.

I like the random calls from friendly Sims to invite me to the festival. Sometimes my Sims are stuck in tedious routine and trip to a festival with some friends or to meet new Sims is a nice way to keep yourself reminded not to make every sim day exactly the same.

The thing about the Festivals is that as players we have no control whatsoever on the their schedule. You can freely delete, edit and create new holidays with traditions of your choice without any mods, but festivals just pre arranged by the game and they happen when they happen.

This can be fixed with another great life-quality mods that is very vanilla friendly - Schedule Festivals Yourself by @zerbu.

So here are my rules for the Festival Schedule.

I don't necessarily want certain festivals to happen in winter, I want Sims in their party outfits on a San Myshuno night out not freezing to death.

All of them will happen way less often, because of both game/mod limitation to have only 1 holiday per day and because I want them to be more rare, hence more inviting to take part in them if next one is gonna be only next year.

Humor festival happens after the Bloomfest, think of it as Aprils Fool .

It will be followed by GeekCon on Sunday.

Flea market will be happening on one Saturday each Spring, Summer and Autumn.

Spice Festival as above, but on Fridays.

HSY Cheerleading and Football Team events will happen twice a year - before the Spring Break and Harvestfest in the autumn.

Second week of the summer is when I combined Youth Festival and Series of Sulani Festivals in a row with the Summer Break holidays I added before. I think of some of the worlds like Sulani to be mostly vacation worlds. Sims can plan summer holidays there to attend all of the festivities.

Fishing Competition and Flower Festivals are for the next weekedns, let's give Sulanians a chance to catch a breath from all the tourists.

Beginning of autumn hosts series of Finchwick Harvest Fair events, where all 5 fairs will start in the middle of first week/month and progress over the next 5 days. It's also a chance to have longer vacation in H-n-B to attend local fairs and admire the nature. Locals will have only one chance year to show off their biggest harvest/best farm animals.

After the Spooky night holiday Sims can attend Festival of Light. In my irl home city we have a light festival each year in the autumn, when evenings come earlier to fully enjoy the show.

The first day of winter is Sunday and it is the day when everyone goes to Mt. Komorebi for a Snow Festival.

And last but not least there is Chess and Computer Science weekend in "January".

To schedule Festivals you need to add a new holiday on any day you wish and pick respective festival from the traditions list. It even adds likes to the traditions/festival activities based on your Sims characteristics, which is an extra sweet twist. I still need to play test the mod but I give it much hope.

Shout out to Peter Plays It on YT for his videos on all the festivals to keep me reminded of their character and fit them better in my Sim year.

Did you ever notice how in TS4 Winterfest and New Year's Eve holidays are placed at the end of the winter season to be immediately followed by spring and Love Day at the end of spring?

While in reality Xmas is actually right at the beginning of the winter, Valentines Day and Carnival are both also in winter.

It's not like it bothers me that much usually, but I decided to fix it for my save file. And create custom holidays with custom traditions that I see more fit into my game. Here's how and what changes I made.

Fist of all I made sure I have LittleMsSam's mod that changes the 28 days long seasons to 21 days. This way the entire Sim year consists of 12 weeks/months, 3 for each of the seasons.

This mod is super optional, but I like to have it - 7 days is too short for me, 14 is almost enough, but 28 is also an exaggeration.

Next in live mode I deleted default holidays from the calendar and remade the holiday layout, adding some new fun traditions and days off school and work. This way Sims can use their PTO to combine with holidays and have longer vacation. Just like we do irl.

So here's the holiday calendar for my save so far. Maybe it will inspire you to make your own holidays, if you never messed with the calendar feature before. I may have used custom holiday icons or traditions here. I for sure use mods that add them, just not sure if I used them here. But if you spot something not in your game, just ask 😊

New Year's Eve & New Year's Day

Party is on Sunday - this way most of the working Sims will have a day off anyway and the traditions are very standard - party hard. On Monday after though Sims can enjoy a day off work and school to sleep off the hangover, clean up after party mess, let their stomachs heal by little fasting and chill playing some games.

2. Love Day

It's pretty standard romantic traditions, but takes place in the middle of third week of winter.

3. Carnival Day

During the Carnival day Sims will traditionally invite friends over to have a costume party. It also marks the end of winter season. It's on Saturday so party that day won't interfere with those pesky jobs next day morning. At least for most!

4. Bloomfest

Bloomfest is the first spring holiday and it's a celebration of the world coming back into colors after the winter months. Flower Bunny spreads flowers that day, Sims tend their gardens and invite friends and family for the Egg Hunt.

5. Spring Break

Just before start of the summer, Sims can enjoy a little Spring Break. On Fridays they usually meet with friends and neighbors at the BBQ, prepare gardens for summer season or go for a short holidays to the beach in Sulani or Granite Falls before the summer heath hits. Following Saturday is also a day off for anyone who works that day, but there's no traditions, you can just do whatever and enjoy the day.

6. SunSplash Day & Summer Break

In the middle of the summer there is 3-days long break for Sims to fully enjoy the life and rest from the work and school routine. On the first day Sims usually enjoy it to the max - beaches, pools, ice creams, BBQ, travelling outside their towns. Next two days have no traditions, they are just well deserved days off.

Although kids and teens in TS4 have vacation days for their "occupation", there is no real summer holiday season for those poor guys. School like work all damn year, that must be really fun.

7. Spooky Night

Spooky Night it's the day when some Sims prefer to party and kids are going Trick or Treat. Others will think of their late loved ones. Or both.

8. Harvestfest

Harvestfest happens on last Friday of the Autumn weeks. Decorating homes, lighting up cozy fireplaces, eat festive foods and practice being thankful.

9. Winter Wonderfest

Last but not least there's the great Winter Wonderfest. The first day is for the preparations. Dress up the three, light up the candles, decorate the house and make sure it's pristine before the guests coming next day.

On Friday there's the proper celebration time with Father Winter, presents and other festive activities.

Working on a small piece of lore for a Sim I made lately. Nothing too deep, just in need for a creative outlet for my vision of him and what his Sim life would be.

My conception from yesterday to build an artificial beach in the Oasis Springs on the Desert Bloom lot evolved slightly.

First of alI, I guess technically without mods you simply can't make this lot a beach. Second of all - terrain manipulation on the lot make it appear recolored in the world map view, and it triggers me.

I was struggling for a while to decide whether I want it to be vacation rental or swimming pool to finally end up with a SPA lot type.

I find this lot type very versatile in terms of how you can use it. I still think of this lot as a public swimming pool, but the SPA lot allows to spawn a mixologist NPC automatically to work at the bar. Let's be true, water park without a functioning bar is boring. Couple yoga mats, meditation stools and massage beds fix the lot requirements and it's a nice addition for those who want more variety of activities when visiting the community lots. I'm not sure if it will spawn kids/toddlers/teens to use the waterpark though. Gotta playtest it. Trying to make it look acceptable gave me sh*tloads of frustration. EA items for the water fun are such an utter ugly BS.

Random TS4 annoyance for today is why the hell can't the NPC employees for community items like bars get automatically spawned on ANY kind of community lot? It is so damn obvious functionality...

Trying to make that game playable with mods takes me more time than actual gameplay. Maybe that's why my main menu screen still looks like this. I'm not gonna update the game until I hear that main issues are fixed. Screw the new BG content, really, I'm old and patient.

Oasis Springs deserves a great place for Sims to hang out. A place that would suit different needs and hence bring different Sims together. I have a couple ideas how to make this lot more alive with Clubs (random annoyance: Sims don't seem to autonomously use the bowling equipment on that lot type 🤡). A club of bowling dads against bowling teens? Coworkers club from some career enjoying crazy karaoke and drinks till the sun comes up? You name it!

PS: what you see is what you get, I don't use any shaders or other graphic improving mods.

PS2: my anxious perfectionist inside already noticed some unpainted ceiling and a couple of other f-ups. Still better job than some EA builds though 🤡

The Singers & Bowlers in Mirage Canyon is well known to all the locals. Whether you prefer to show off your vocal talent on the scene, go bowling with your friends or just have couple of drinks at the bar laughing at the poor dude at the karaoke machine - it's a great spot for your social life to thrive.

The shallow water pools outside provide a little bit of much needed freshness in the usual heath of the desert. Sit close to the fountains and watch some clouds before heading off to the party!

On the back of the bar during warmer nights guests can enjoy the outside table area, with a chance to practice your latest stand up attempts in front of the significantly bored audience. It's also a great place for those a little tired of the noise inside, who would like to relax at the bubble bar.

What's the most important is of course inside. Singers & Bowlers - as the name may suggest - hosts karaoke nights for singing enthusiasts as well as bowling nights for both organized clubs and regular guests.

After a healthy competition (or a day spent in the nearby SPA) you can chill out with your friends at the bar or choose one of many tables or comfortable chairs in front of the scene.

I feel slightly anxious posting my first build on Simblr. My building skills in TS4 aren't pro and having so many talented builders makes me feel a little bit overwhelmed. Nevertheless I hope you like it. 😊

Playing with Canva was fun as usual though.

It has been build and furnished for Jimmy McFlatt.

If you remove some things or place unfurnished it might be just an ugly, old cabin for a soft rags to riches.

My inspiration for the build, aside from Jimmy's story, came from several pictures I found in google of type of old, very rusty and dusty, messy desert cabins put together from scrap and random parts. I wanted it to be a conspiracy theorist private shelter, where that paranoid Sim would live his secretive life spying on their neighbors, making nectar, investigating alien abductions, writing his blog. Jimmy is a prepper who doesn't like any visitors, lives like a hermit in an ugly cabin with a secret basement where he does his secretive stuff.

I hope I managed to give it the vibe I intended.

Lot uses Simple Living, Off-the-Grid and Reuse&Recycle challenges and a Private Dwelling trait.

Now while I finish, time to put together scraps of ideas and think what to do exactly in the next neighborhood. This one may be still lacking last details and some play around with T.O.O.L but the general shape will be as is. Need some more Inspired moodlet!
