I can honestly say that seeing more Black practicioners (of all and any path), makes me more confident about mine.
I feel less and less timid about practicing something I was conditioned to believe was “evil” or “of the devil” when I see people like me practicing the same thing or variations.
It feels normal, comfortable & validating.
When you have parents who are/were evil for the sake of being evil, they truly underestimate the damage that comes from that because to them its actually called “being a good parent”.
It’s one of the most stupefying and frustrating realizations the children of these types of people have to experience as adults.

With seeing all these kids go back to school
I realized how much I ALWAYS hated “back to school shopping”. Then I thought about it... only myself and a few of my friends or other kids I knew hated it because we were the [poor] kids.
The beginning of another school year wasn’t a refreshing ritual for us - we went back with the same things from last year. We learned how to take care of supplies/clothes so they lasted as long as possible.
Eventually I got to an age (~15) where I stopped caring & comparing. School stress + life stress made me apathetic. I didn’t have time to give a fuck if my binder or jeans were brand new.
I’m just glad its all over.
